JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Baldwin Community UMC staff is to support a Christ-centered community of worship, discipleship, and service.
TITLE: Director of Music Ministries
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates strength and maturity in his/her Christian faith and be willing and able to lead an exemplary Christian life
Share and support the Christian vision, mission and values of BCUMC
Prefer a bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent experience
Demonstrate ability as accomplished organist and pianist
Demonstrates ability to conduct vocal music groups
Be able to pass a physical examination as may be required
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to work and communicate with other employees and individuals
Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision
Has basic computer literacy
Has demonstrated aptitude for skillful and successful completion of the assigned performance responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as principal organist and pianist
Rehearse and direct choirs (handbell, adult choir, children's choir)
Schedule and conduct weekly rehearsals
Select music that accentuates worship themes and holy seasons.
Recruit musicians for choirs and special music.
Select music for worship service in collaboration with the pastor.
Recruit, schedule and prepare soloists, duets and ensembles for worship service as needed
Recruit substitute organists as needed.
Assume full responsibility for the maintenance of the organ, pianos, other music equipment and submit invoices upon completion of work to Finance Administrator
Develop and monitor the music ministries budget in conjunction with the Financial Administrator and the Senior Pastor
Supervise the inventory of music in the appropriate library
Submit bulletin materials on a timely basis
Provide support to church staff and other church programs as needed
Write publicity materials regarding the music program needs as appropriate.
Participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, new member orientation session, and other related program areas as needed
Provide music for weddings, funerals, and other such events; serve as organist for such events, as needed
Perform all other duties and assignments as applicable to the position as may be directed by the Senior Pastor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part time position. Work year, workdays, salary are established in accordance with the provisions of the current BCUMC Lay Personnel Policy Manual as approved by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
EVALUATION:
Performance of the job will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with the provisions of the current BCUMC Lay Personnel Policy Manual.
