Director of Marketing
TAGR Holdings · Portfolio of 5+ Small Businesses

Location:
Remote-first · Phoenix metro (occasional in-person: Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale)
Employment:
Full-time
Reports to:
CEO / Owner
Structure:
Holding company · First marketing hire
Compensation:
 $60k - $100k annually, depending on experience

About the Company

We're a fast-growing holding company that acquires and builds exceptional small businesses across professional services, property management, and skilled trades — both B2B and B2C. No corporate bureaucracy, no endless approvals. We move fast, rely on data, and buy good businesses that need modern marketing engines. This is our first marketing hire. You'll own the entire playbook across the portfolio, reporting directly to ownership.

Responsibilities

What you'll own:
• Diagnose newly acquired companies' marketing gaps and deploy a 90-day growth playbook tailored to each business — local SEO, content strategy, paid acquisition, or tenant outreach
• Write and own all copy across the portfolio — landing pages, campaigns, email sequences — shifting voice and register per brand, not per template
• Own the marketing P&L: track CAC, LTV, ROAS, and MER across every portfolio company
• Build and operate the full marketing tech stack (Klaviyo, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, CRMs) for each company from setup to scale
• Launch and manage paid and organic campaigns across channels — search, social, email, and local
• Develop reputation, review, and referral strategies for blue-collar and professional services brands
• Report results directly to the CEO/Owner with data-backed performance summaries
• Context-switch across property management on Monday, professional services on Wednesday, and a trades company on Friday — without missing a beat

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on marketing execution — growth agency, in-house startup, or operator role; you've built campaigns end-to-end, not just advised on them
• Experience across both B2B and B2C marketing (bonus, not required)
• Fluency in trust-based and local marketing — you understand how reputation, referrals, and reviews drive growth in services and trades businesses
• Proficiency in paid media: Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, or equivalent
• Proficiency in marketing analytics: GA4, attribution models, and performance reporting
• Hands-on experience with at least one CRM and one email/SMS platform (Klaviyo preferred)
• Strong copywriting skills — you can write a landing page, ad creative, and email sequence without a dedicated copywriter
• Comfortable context-switching across multiple brands and industries simultaneously
• Autonomous operator mindset — you set direction, execute, and report without waiting for committee approval
• Obsessed with ROI — you treat marketing dollars like they're coming out of your own account

Why This Role

• Direct mentorship from ownership — learn how private equity and holding companies actually operate from the inside
• Zero red tape: if an idea makes financial sense, you launch it tomorrow — no 3-week approval chains
• Performance-based comp with real upside — your pay moves when the numbers move
• Mostly remote with occasional in-person in Tempe, Mesa, and Scottsdale; flexibility built in from day one
• A portfolio track record no single-brand job can match: 5+ companies across 3 industries in 2–3 years is a legitimate career accelerant

How to Apply
Send your resume and 2–3 sentences about a campaign you built from scratch — what you did and what it returned. No cover letter needed.
