Description

Director of Marketing

Ziggi’s Coffee is a fast-growing specialty drive-thru coffee franchise with more than 120 locations. With a focus on providing our customers with a variety of uniquely handcrafted beverages and on-the-go food options, we are committed to giving them a first-rate experience every time they visit Ziggi’s. Quality is at the heart of everything we stand for, and we will always strive to provide the very best to our communities. Nationally recognized on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500®, we are a fast-growing company that continues to promote valuable growth and development opportunities. Our team members share a positive attitude, passion, and drive to create a collaborative work environment. Now you have the opportunity to join our team and excel professionally as our Director of Marketing. The Director of Marketing is the senior marketing leader at Ziggi’s, accountable for turning business goals into profitable growth: more guests, visiting more often. You own the marketing strategy, the marketing and product calendar, the brand fund, the Ziggi’s brand, and the earned media that builds our reputation. You report to the CEO and lead two direct reports, the Brand Manager and the Field Marketing Manager, who anchor an in-house team of six today (seven once the Field Marketing Manager joins) across brand and creative, social, and field marketing, along with the agencies and vendors who extend it. You are also the channel lead for digital, loyalty, and PR. Because most Ziggi’s stores are franchisee-owned, you lead through trust, clear results, and tools that make good marketing easy to carry out. Everything runs through one filter: great cup, great care.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Set the marketing strategy. Translate business goals into an annual strategy with clear priorities, target audiences, investment decisions, and measurable outcomes. Use loyalty data, guest feedback, market research, and store performance to grow transactions and visit frequency through value and connection, not discounting.

Own the marketing and product calendar end to end. Lead seasonal campaigns, limited-time offers, product launches, and evergreen promotions, with the Brand Manager’s content calendar of storytelling, themes, and brand moments feeding the plan. Plan far enough ahead that Operations, Supply Chain, Training, Finance, and Franchise Development are ready before launch, with clear timelines and decision owners.

Partner with Operations on product and recipe development. Work collaboratively with the VP of Operations and Training and other operations team members on product and recipe development, so new beverages and food items feed directly into the marketing calendar. Make sure every launch is ready for the stores and baristas who will make it.

Build and protect the brand. Own Ziggi’s positioning, voice, and guest-facing experience as we grow nationally, and make final brand decisions in partnership with the Brand Manager, who stewards the brand day to day and leads the creative team. Ensure every touchpoint reinforces one distinctive brand.

Serve as channel lead for loyalty and CRM. Lead Ziggi’s Rewards strategy and performance, including enrollment, activation, repeat visits, and retention, directing loyalty agency or platform partners where they extend the team. Use segmentation and behavioral data to make the program a measurable revenue driver.

Serve as channel lead for digital. Set strategy and own performance across paid media, search, listings, reviews, third-party delivery, and AI-powered discovery, with clear standards, directing digital agency partners where they extend the team. The Brand Manager sets organicsocial direction within this strategy, and the Field Marketing team carries it out at the store level.

Serve as channel lead for earned media and PR. Lead earned media strategy, including managing our PR agency and media relations. Set the strategy and budget for influencer and ambassador programs, including the Z-List, and evaluate their performance using insights from the Brand Manager and Social Media & Brand Coordinator, who approve and run the partnerships day to day.

Own the brand fund and marketing economics. Build and defend the annual fund plan, allocate investment across media, production, agency partners, and local support, and judge every program on incremental sales, margin, and return, not just reach. Report to franchisees on how the fund is invested and what it delivers. A short set of numbers everyone trusts beats a dashboard nobody opens.

Set the standard for new store openings and local marketing. Set the investment, targets, and performance benchmarks for grand openings and local marketing, and hold the Field Marketing Manager accountable for the playbooks, toolkit, and programs that deliver them.

Be the senior marketing voice to franchisees. Serve as the strategic marketing partner to franchisee owners and leadership. Explain the rationale and expected return behind initiatives, listen to field feedback, and build alignment across an independently owned system. Day-to-day franchisee support runs through Field Marketing.

Lead the team and our partners. Set priorities, expectations, and development plans for your direct reports and, through them, the full in-house team. Manage digital, loyalty, and PR agencies directly and own the overall agency and vendor roster and budgets, with clear briefs and measures; the Brand Manager manages creative agencies, production vendors, and freelancers day to day. Decide what we build in-house and what we buy. Use AI tools as a force multiplier across content, research, analysis, and reporting, and teach the team to do the same.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Comparable-store transaction and visit-frequency growth, with healthy average ticket and store profitability

Ziggi’s Rewards enrollment, activation, and retention

Marketing fund return, and franchisee confidence in how the fund is invested

New stores opening at or above opening-period benchmarks

Earned media reach and quality, and growth in brand awareness and consideration

Franchisee adoption of marketing programs and satisfaction with marketing support

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a marketing strategy tied to business growth goals, not simply manage campaigns or a promotional calendar.

Franchise or multi-unit restaurant, coffee, QSR, or retail marketing experience, with a track record of influencing independent owners rather than directing them.

Strong financial acumen: marketing budgets, P&L fundamentals, store-level economics, promotional profitability, and return on marketing investment.

Experience using loyalty and CRM data, customer research, and competitive intelligence to influence customer behavior. Hands-on experience with a loyalty platform such as Paytronix is a plus.

Strong digital marketing fundamentals across paid media, local search and listings, organic social, online reputation, and third-party delivery, plus experience leading promotional calendar in a fast-moving category.

Experience directing PR and earned media, including managing a PR agency and evaluating influencer or ambassador programs.

Strong agency management skills across digital, loyalty, PR, and creative partners: setting strategy and briefs, evaluating performance, managing budgets, and knowing when to bring capabilities in-house.

Proven ability to build and protect a brand, with the creative judgment to evaluate work against brand standards and business results.

Credibility with franchisees and executive leadership, and the ability to communicate difficult messages constructively and build alignment.

An early, confident adopter of AI tools, with real examples of using them to produce more and better work.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including ownership of brand or campaign strategy at a multi-unit organization. Franchise experience strongly preferred; QSR, coffee, or another high-transaction concept preferred.

Proven experience leading and managing a team of people, including managers, with accountability for hiring, coaching, development, and performance, in addition to marketing expertise.

Demonstrated success leading a marketing function or significant portfolio, with responsibility for budget allocation and measurable business outcomes.

Must work full-time, in person, from Ziggi’s headquarters in Mead, CO. This is not a remote or hybrid role. Travel to stores, markets, and franchisee meetings as the work requires.
