Job Function

Develops college-wide annual marketing plan to support strategic goals and initiatives. Designs leading-edge marketing strategies that build knowledge, preference and utilization of the college by enhancing brand identity, cultivating student prospects, and working collaboratively with staff across college units. Provides leadership for efforts to attract all categories of college students (credit, non-credit, University Center) and assists with Business marketing plans. Provides a marketing perspective to institutional efforts designed to strengthen student services and relationships (non-academic), from the point of application to becoming a member of Macomb's alumni ranks. Responsible for managing college social media channels and policies. Provides and executes collaborative marketing plans for initiatives targeted to current students. Serves as the college brand advocate and enforcer to uphold college Identity Standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements marketing strategies, based on institutional goals, market characteristics and budgeted resources, which reinforce the college's position as a market leader in the region for post-secondary and training opportunities as well as cultural and enrichment experiences.
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders to develop the annual marketing plan and specific recruitment campaigns.
  • Employs a range of cost-effective, targeted, measurable and appropriately integrated marketing tools to achieve institutional goals. These may include web and digital media, direct mail, print and outdoor advertising, email marketing, brochures, flyers, and other relevant vehicles.
  • Optimizes interactive, electronic marketing efforts by providing expert guidance on innovative web, email and social media strategies.
  • Remains current on industry trends related to search engine marketing, advertising, email marketing, digital banners, landing pages, retargeting, analytics, social media and other emerging approaches.
  • Employs market segmentation methodologies to achieve the most targeted, cost-effective results. Incorporates both quantitative and qualitative analyses as part of the planning and evaluation process.
  • Establishes measurements and success metrics to evaluate marketing efforts and prioritize marketing investments, providing reports to the unit vice president.
  • Ensures consistency in institutional messages and positioning strategies.
  • Participates in cross-functional college teams whose purpose is to improve non-academic student processes and relationships.
  • Evaluates and coordinates an institutional approach to paid advertising media placements.
  • Provides leadership, in collaboration with the college's department of institutional research or external vendors, for periodic market research on user needs, preferences, and satisfaction.
  • Oversees the functional areas of marketing, graphics, photography, videography, information center, student communications, publications and online media coordination.
  • Monitors competitive and best practice data to gauge market activity and trends.
  • Manages contracts, relationships and oversees budget related to external agencies.
  • Oversees all aspects of public facing website, to include design, content, enhancements and enforcing content governance policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for communicating college-wide emergencies and closures and for ensuring approved protocol and processes are followed.

Education

Master's Degree, MBA desired

Qualifications

Six years of professional experience in a significant marketing leadership role required. Administrative or consulting experience with non-profit, public sector and/or higher educational institutions desired.
