    Title: Director of Market Access  

    Territory: California / Western US

    Company: Innovative medical device company focused on improving patient mobility, independence, and outcomes for individuals with venous and lymphatic conditions. The company’s technology provides healthcare providers and patients with a more convenient, personalized approach to compression therapy.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify new opportunities, build senior-level payer relationships, and navigate complex coverage and reimbursement environments
    • Develop and execute regional market access strategies across commercial and government-sponsored healthcare organizations in the Western US with a focus on California
    • Work with payer stakeholders to identify opportunities, influence access decisions, develop strategic relationships, and establish sustainable pathways for broader market adoption
    • Create opportunities where established payer pathways may not yet exist
    • Identify, qualify, prioritize, and develop regional market access opportunities
    • Build relationships with payer medical directors, contracting executives, network leadership, utilization management teams, and other key stakeholders
    • Develop and execute payer engagement strategies from initial outreach through implementation
    • Identify opportunities and barriers impacting market adoption and commercial growth
    • Engage payer clinical and executive leadership regarding coverage, reimbursement, utilization, and access considerations
    • Present clinical evidence, economic data, patient outcomes, and overall value propositions to decision-makers
    • Develop strategies to address coverage, reimbursement, utilization management, and network barriers
    • Monitor payer policy changes, competitive dynamics, and market trends
    • Lead strategic discussions involving payer relationships, contracting, reimbursement, and network access
    • Partner with senior leadership on commercial strategy, pricing, contract positioning, and negotiations
    • Partner closely with sales, marketing, clinical, reimbursement, operations, and executive leadership
    • Translate payer intelligence into actionable commercial strategies and field recommendations
    • Provide regional insight into payer dynamics, competitive activity, and access opportunities
    • Support commercial teams in developing strategies around payer-specific opportunities and barriers.

    Requirements:

    • Established payer relationships in California and Western US
    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, life sciences, or related field
    • Demonstrated success developing payer relationships and influencing coverage, reimbursement, contracting, or access outcomes
    • Proven ability to independently identify and develop strategic opportunities
    • Experience engaging payer medical directors, contracting executives, network leadership, utilization management, or other senior payer stakeholders
    • Strong commercial orientation with a demonstrated track record of achieving measurable results
    • Strong executive communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills
    • Ability to communicate clinical and economic value propositions credibly to senior decision-makers
    • Medical device or healthcare commercial sales with direct payer-facing responsibilities
    • Experience with reimbursement-dependent healthcare products or services
    • Experience operating within emerging or evolving healthcare markets.
    • Growth-stage, startup, or entrepreneurial healthcare experience.
    • Background in areas such as specialty healthcare, DME, wound care, vascular, cardiology, oncology, or other reimbursement-driven markets
    • Hunter mentality and strong commercial instincts
    • Executive presence and strategic negotiation skills
    • Business development and relationship-building expertise
    • 30% + travel

    Compensation:

    $165k - $180k salary + 10% - 15% performance bonus + equity
