Job Summary:
Reporting to the Provost, the Director will take a lead role in the integration of the Library and Learning Commons with teaching and learning activities by providing vision, leadership, and accountability through strategic planning and assessment, budget preparation and administration, integration of appropriate technology, personnel management, and consortia development.
In collaboration with the University community, develops and guides initiatives to support the learning, teaching, research, service, and administrative goals of the University. Coordinates and integrates learning services with leadership from other academic and functional areas such as the colleges, tutoring and testing, faculty instructional services, and Information Technology Services. Directs and supervises; maintains the Libraries and Learning Commons environment; plans for new or renovated facilities, and coordinates and establishes library and learning commons performance standards to provide efficient and effective learning services to the University. Anticipates future opportunities and obstacles and continually retools to meet challenges. Creates an environment that encourages and recognizes creativity, innovation, and openness to new ideas, and encourages input from others. Takes a leadership role in assessment and accreditation activities, in developing innovative services and integration of technology in library and related learning services.
Location: This on-site position is based at our Waterfront Plaza campus site and Library, in downtown Honolulu, but may require visits to the Learning Commons at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Do you have a Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution, or a masters degree in a related field?

Do you have at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration, preferably in an academic library, learning commons, teaching and learning center, or similar academic setting?

Do you have professional experience managing operations, budgets, and administrative functions for a department, program, or organization?
