We are seeking a Director of Landscaping to lead our growing grounds division. This position will play a key role in managing field operations, developing and supporting the grounds staff, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Carolina Services' high standards
Job Title: Director of Landscaping
Job Summary:
The Director of Landscaping is responsible for supervising and managing all operations related to the Grounds Division. Coordinates the procurement and scheduled use of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards.
Job Classification: Exempt/Fulltime
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Management of the Grounds staff -
- Collaborate with Operations Director on recruiting and hiring and responsible for training of Grounds staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching.
- Handle disciplinary actions as needed in accordance with company policy.
- Manage and schedule labor, equipment, and material to accomplish production, communicating any additional work scope requests from customers to crews.
- Visit job sites on a regular basis, observing organization of work, identifying and resolving training issues, and taking necessary action to correct problems, improve quality, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Oversee purchasing of materials.
- Review Workmax for time management and job costing accuracy.
- Responsible for providing customer quotes on new installation and maintenance work as well as irrigation work.
- Responsible for installation, repair, and adjustment of irrigation work.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance and repair – researching new equipment as needed and asset tracking of large equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Strong understanding of groundskeeping and landscape practices and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills - ability to work with changing priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining workflow.
- Must be able to read and interpret landscaping plans.
Required Education and Experience:
- A minimum of ten years of horticulture/landscaping experience, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Pesticide certification.
- Experience using scheduling software.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Understanding of irrigation systems’ operation and repair.
- Experience operating and repairing small power and hand tools.
- Proficient in operation of large equipment including mowers, tractors, loaders, woodchippers, chainsaws, clippers, plows, or other similar machines.
- This position primarily works outside with periodic work required to be performed in an office environment.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds on a regular basis and carry material up to 70 pounds; work outside for long periods of time in unfavorable conditions; perform strenuous manual labor requiring considerable walking, lifting, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscape management, or related field.
Work Environment:
This position primarily works outside, with periodic work required to be performed in an office environment.

Ability to lift 55 pounds on a regular basis and carry material up to 70 pounds; work outside for long periods of time in unfavorable conditions; perform strenuous manual labor requiring considerable walking, lifting, reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
