    About the Role

Scale Computing is hiring a Director of IT to lead corporate IT: the end-user services, identity, endpoints, collaboration and business SaaS (software-as-a-service) platforms, office networks, and IT service desk that every Scaler depends on. This leader owns how IT work is taken in, prioritized, delivered, and reported, and is accountable for the cost, reliability, and security of the corporate technology estate.

This is a full-time in-office role based in our Austin, TX or Indianapolis, IN offices.

The strongest candidates have consolidated IT environments after an acquisition, can explain in detail how they run planned and unplanned IT work, and measure success by outcomes delivered and cost removed rather than tickets closed.

    What Youll Do

    • Own the IT service desk: intake, request catalog, queue structure, prioritization, SLA (service level agreement) definition and attainment, and knowledge base.
    • Consolidate duplicate workflows inherited from legacy organizations into a single IT service model, and retire the redundant tooling.
    • Own identity and access lifecycle for the workforce (Google Workspace, SSO, MFA), including joiner/mover/leaver processes integrated with HR, and least-privilege access in partnership with Security.
    • Own endpoint management (MDM, patching, imaging, encryption, EDR deployment coverage) across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices.
    • Manage the SaaS portfolio and IT vendors: license utilization, renewals, contract negotiation, rationalization of overlapping tools, and SaaS administration ownership.
    • Own IT asset management: hardware lifecycle, procurement standards, inventory accuracy, and secure disposal.
    • Own office and remote-worker connectivity, conferencing, and collaboration services across company locations.
    • Build and manage the IT budget, with reporting on spend by category, cost per employee, and savings delivered.
    • Use AI assistance to reduce IT workload (ticket deflection, triage, knowledge authoring, scripting), and set the team standard for what it is used for and what output is verified.
    • Develop the IT team, maintaining a documented development plan and a named ownership area for every team member; address underperformance promptly with documented plans.
    • Represent IT in change management, incident escalation, and cross-functional planning with Business Systems, Finance, HR, Platform Infrastructure, and Security.
