The Staff Pad has partnered with a respected
healthcare organization in Russellville, AL to hire an experienced Director of
Inpatient Services to oversee comprehensive inpatient behavioral healthcare.
This key leadership role manages daily patient care
operations, staff performance, budget oversight, and professional development.
The Director will ensure age-appropriate care, uphold unit policies and
procedures, foster collaboration across departments, and address complex
clinical and administrative challenges.
What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate expertise and
proficiency within the assigned nursing specialty
- Serve as a clinical role model,
initiate interventions, and direct patient care activities
- Evaluate staff performance
objectively and provide counseling and recommendations as needed
- Develop specialty-specific policies
and procedures and integrate Standards of Care into unit operations
- Provide formal and informal
leadership and direction to staff
- Foster staff growth and development
toward increased responsibility
- Communicate and support
Administration and Corporate Leadership philosophies
- Apply systematic problem-solving to
make timely, sound decisions
- Develop and implement new concepts
and practices to improve nursing care and employee satisfaction
- Recruit, select, orient, staff,
retain, and support the development of personnel within assigned
departments
- Use performance appraisals, counseling, and
disciplinary actions to motivate and improve staff performance
- Effectively retain nursing personnel, with exit interviews
indicating a strong effort to manage departments for staff retention and
development
- Build effective relationships
across nursing and ancillary departments
- Demonstrate effective leadership in
stressful and challenging situations
- Maintain overall unit staffing
coverage during all operational hours
What We Are Looking For
Education & Experience
- Current
Alabama RN License; BSN Preferred, or an RN with a Bachelor’s in
Health/Business Management
- 4–6 years of recent
hospital experience
- Previous management experience
leading inpatient clinical teams preferred
- Behavioral or mental health
leadership experience preferred
- Experience caring for children,
adolescents, adults, and individuals with developmental or
neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism
- Experience in crisis intervention,
crisis management, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health
conditions
- Experience with diagnostic
evaluations, CPT/ICD classifications, and special education considerations
preferred
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology
and mental health diagnoses,
- Proficiency in ICD coding, medical
records, and EHR/EMR systems
- Knowledge of ABA, CBT,
psychotherapeutic techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Demonstrated leadership,
interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with
families, multidisciplinary teams, and community resources while
maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Proven commitment to clinical
excellence, staff supervision, and professional development
