    Overview

Our client is seeking a hands-on technology leader to oversee and evolve a growing technology environment that supports both business operations and customer-facing systems. This individual will be responsible for improving existing applications, driving technology modernization efforts, managing technical resources, and serving as a key advisor to executive leadership.

This is not a pure people-management or infrastructure leadership role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software and systems background, understand how applications are built and integrated, and be comfortable leading technical discussions with developers, engineers, vendors, and business stakeholders.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Assess, improve, and modernize an existing technology environment
    • Provide leadership for software enhancements, integrations, automation projects, and operational improvements
    • Oversee business-critical applications supporting CRM, billing, inventory, ticketing, and operational workflows
    • Manage internal technical resources and offshore/remote contractors
    • Coordinate with third-party partners for larger development and implementation efforts
    • Drive system simplification, stability, and process improvement initiatives
    • Support technology strategy while remaining close enough to understand technical design and development decisions
    • Partner directly with executive leadership on technology priorities and long-term planning

    What We're Looking For

    Technical Background

    • 10+ years of experience within software development, technology engineering, systems architecture, or related technology leadership roles
    • Strong understanding of software applications, integrations, APIs, databases, and development processes
    • Experience managing or leading application development and enhancement efforts
    • Ability to engage credibly with engineers and developers on technical solutions
    • Experience evaluating and improving existing platforms rather than building greenfield environments

    Leadership Experience

    • Experience managing technical teams and/or offshore development resources
    • Proven ability to prioritize work, drive accountability, and deliver results through internal and external teams
    • Comfortable operating in a player-coach capacity when needed

    Desired Industry Experience

    • Telecommunications, connectivity, infrastructure, utilities, logistics, or other operationally intensive industries preferred
    • Experience supporting customer-facing platforms, service operations, or complex system integrations is highly desirable

    Culture Fit

This organization values authenticity, accountability, and practical problem-solving.

    Successful candidates will be:

    • Humble and straightforward
    • Comfortable saying "I don't know" when appropriate
    • Realistic, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented
    • Collaborative without needing to be the loudest person in the room
    • Able to work effectively across executives, technical teams, and operational stakeholders

Candidates who rely on buzzwords, oversell their technical abilities, or struggle to operate in a hands-on environment are unlikely to be successful.

    Work Environment

    • Initially onsite five days per week to learn the business and build relationships
    • Long-term flexibility for limited remote work (typically one day per week)
    • Smart casual culture
    • Highly collaborative environment with direct access to executive leadership
