Director of Informatics to lead clinical informatics initiatives across a regional healthcare system in Waimea, Hawaii.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a professional who understands the connection between clinical practice, information technology, and data-driven decision-making. You will play a key role in optimizing electronic health record (EHR) systems, improving clinical workflows, supporting patient safety, and driving technology initiatives that enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead EHR governance, implementation, optimization, and long-term strategy.
Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, nursing teams, IT professionals, and other clinical departments.
Develop and implement standardized clinical workflows and decision-support tools.
Drive clinical innovation, process improvement, and technology adoption across the organization.
Oversee clinical data analytics, reporting, data integrity, and governance.
Lead change management initiatives, staff education, and training programs.
Ensure clinical informatics systems support patient safety, quality improvement, and operational efficiency.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations.
Supervise, mentor, and support informatics professionals and multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Information Systems, Nursing Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field. Relevant substitutions may be considered.
Current Hawaii RN license or current Hawaii physician license (MD or DO).
57 years of healthcare informatics or related experience.
At least 2.5 years of clinical or technical experience in a critical access hospital.
Minimum of 3 years of managerial supervisory experience.
At least one qualifying professional certification at the time of hire, such as CPHIMS, CAHIMS, ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC), Clinical Informatics Board Certification, an applicable AHIMA certification, PMP, or a qualifying health data analytics certification listed for the position.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience with EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Oracle Health.
Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR.
Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Epic Cognito.
Experience leading large-scale healthcare technology projects and clinical workflow transformations.
Strong strategic thinking, communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills.
