PURPOSE: The Director of Impact Center will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and represent Cooperative Extension within the county. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing county-specific strategies; managing staff and budgets; ensuring compliance with university and United States Department of Agriculture-National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA); securing funding; and engaging stakeholders. Also, design, implement, and evaluate educational programs in one of the following Extension program areas: agriculture and natural resources; community development; family and consumer sciences; and 4-H Youth Development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership (20%): Develops the county plan of work aligned with organizational goals to enhance program growth and impact.
Program Development and Evaluation (10%):
Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs.
Operations & Compliance (20%):
Oversees daily operations, ensuring programs are delivered within budget and promptly; comply with university and USDA-NIFA compliance.
External Representation & Funding (15%):
Builds relationships with government officials, partners, and donors to secure funding and enhance the county Extension office.
Human Resource Management (20%):
Recruits, leads, develops high-performing teams, and evaluate Extension educators.
Financial & Risk Management (15%):
Manages the Extension office budget and allocates fiscal resources.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Experience: Previous leadership role and/or experience as an Extension educator.
Skills:
Strong strategic planning, fiscal management, and leadership (ability to lead teams).
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the local political, social, and economic environment.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned bachelor's degree in agriculture, community development, education, educational administration/leadership, and/or related field and seven years' experience.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned master's degree in agriculture, community development, education, educational administration/leadership, and/or organizational leadership and three years' experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, sometimes outdoors.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Position involves occasional travel and evening or weekend work.
