QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
New
Jersey
Certificate

Eligibility
as
School
Administrator
or
Principal.
2.
Master's
Degree
in
Educational
Leadership,
Curriculum
and
Instruction,
or
a
Humanities
discipline
(English,
Social
Studies,
Media
Center
&
World
Languages).
3.
Minimum
of
five
(5)
years
of
successful
secondary
classroom
teaching
experience
within
a
Humanities
discipline.
4.
Demonstrated
success
in
curriculum
development,
alignment
with
New
Jersey
Student
Learning
Standards
(NJSLS),
interdisciplinary
program
design
and
the
facilitation
of
Professional
Development.
5.
In-depth
understanding
of
AchieveNJ
evaluation
procedures,
data-driven
instruction,
and
secondary
literacy
integration.
6.
Strong
expertise
in
budget
preparation,
staff
supervision
and
school
leadership
7.
Required
criminal
history
background
check,
proof
of
U.S.
citizenship
or
legal
resident
status,
and
compliance
with
the
NJ
First
Act
residency
requirement.

JOB
GOAL:
To
provide
strategic
leadership,
instructional
supervision,
and
administrative
direction
for
the
Humanities
departments
(English,
Social
Studies,
World
Languages)
across
the
district.
The
Director
ensures
equitable
access
to
rigorous,
standards-aligned
instruction,
fosters
cross-curricular
connections
and
drives
student
achievement.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional
Leadership
&
Curriculum
Administration
1.
Oversee
the
continuous
cycle
of
curriculum
development,
evaluation,
and
revision
for
all
Humanities
courses,
ensuring
compliance
with
New
Jersey
Student
Learning
Standards
2.
Lead
district-wide
initiatives
in
secondary
literacy,
writing
across
the
curriculum,
media
literacy,
civics,
global
languages,
and
arts
integration.
3.
Establish
and
monitor
course
pathways,
Advanced
Placement
(AP)
offerings,
dual-enrollment
opportunities
with
higher
education
partners,
and
career-aligned
Humanities
tracks.
4.
Lead
vertical
articulation
efforts
with
constituent
K-8
sending
districts
to
harmonize
curriculum
transitions
and
optimize
9th-grade
student
placement.
5.
Review,
select,
and
recommend
new
instructional
materials,
digital
platforms,
and
textbooks
through
formal
district
selection
protocols
and
Board
approval.
Staff
Supervision,
Evaluation,
&
Professional
Growth
1.
Conduct
formal
classroom
observations,
post-observation
conferences,
and
annual
summative
evaluations
for
Humanities
certified
staff
in
compliance
with
AchieveNJ
and
district
policy.
2.
Direct
the
recruitment,
screening,
interviewing,
and
recommendation
of
qualified
candidate
teachers.
3.
Design
and
execute
professional
development
programs
to
advance
district
goals
4.
Promote
culturally
responsive
pedagogy,
differentiated
instruction,
and
integrated
support
strategies
for
all
learners.
Data
Analysis,
Assessment,
&
Accountability
1.
Direct
the
analysis
of
state
assessments,
College
Board
exams
and
district
evaluations
across
the
Humanities
disciplines.
2.
Facilitate
Professional
Learning
Communities
(PLCs)
to
analyze
student
achievement
data,
identify
learning
gaps,
and
refine
instructional
strategies.
3.
Collaborate
with
the
Director
of
Special
Services
and
Director
of
Counseling
to
monitor
student
progress,
intervene
early,
and
support
RTI/504/IEP
accommodations.
Operational,
Fiscal,
&
Program
Management
1.
Prepare,
present,
and
administer
annual
operational
budgets
for
all
supervised
Humanities
departments
across
both
high
schools.
2.
Oversee
state
and
federal
grant
applications,
implementation,
and
reporting
tied
to
humanities,
humanities-based
innovation,
or
instructional
technology.
3.
Oversee
humanities
co-curricular
activities,
literary
publications,
and
humanities
academic
competitions.
4.
Maintain
active
communication
with
parents,
community
stakeholders,
and
board
committees
regarding
departmental
goals,
achievements,
and
curriculum
updates.

Performs
other
duties
as
assigned
by
the
Superintendent.
2.
Engage
in
continuous
professional
growth
by
staying
informed
of
current
research,
educational
trends,
and
best
practices
in
humanities
education,
and
pursue
ongoing
professional
development
to
support
curriculum
innovation
and
continuous
instructional
improvement.
3.
Assist
building
administrations
with
student
supervisory
and
operational
tasks
when
necessary
to
ensure
a
safe
and
orderly
school
environment.
