What will you be doing?
As the Director, Human Resources, you will lead our Human Resources Business Partner team and provide strategic and hands-on HR leadership across our multi-state, multi-site U.S. and Canadian operations. You will partner closely with Operations leaders to strengthen leadership capability, employee relations, performance, workforce planning and the consistent execution of HR programs across the business.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Business Partners supporting a geographically dispersed, multi-site workforce.
• Serve as a senior HR partner to Operations leaders, providing practical guidance on workforce, organizational and people matters.
• Lead and oversee complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, performance concerns, corrective action and terminations.
• Ensure consistent HR practices and sound decision-making across multiple states while accounting for federal, state and local employment requirements.
• Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organizational structure, leadership gaps, succession risk and talent needs.
• Strengthen manager capability in performance management, documentation, employee relations and leadership effectiveness.
• Identify trends in turnover, employee relations cases and workforce data, and recommend actions to address emerging risks or recurring issues.
• Support organizational change, acquisitions, integrations, restructures and other significant business initiatives.
• Ensure enterprise HR programs and policies are effectively implemented through the HRBP team and across Operations.
• Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Employee Experience, Legal, Safety and Compliance and other support functions.
What do you bring?
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant HR business partnership and employee relations experience.
• 5+ years of HR leadership experience, including direct leadership of HR professionals or HR Business Partners.
• Required experience supporting a multi-state, multi-site organization.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multi-state employment laws and employment practices.
• Demonstrated experience leading workplace investigations and advising leaders on high-risk employee matters.
• Strong business judgment, executive presence and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization.
• Experience using workforce and employee relations data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Canadian Human Resources experience is an asset.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or comparable HR designation is an asset.
• Experience in childcare, education, healthcare, retail, hospitality or another highly distributed operating environment is an asset.
• Ability to travel to operating locations as required.
