Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a respected, long-standing nonprofit organization in Little Rock, AR, to identify an experienced Director of Human Resources. Reporting to the SVP, Chief People Officer, this leadership role oversees the full scope of Human Resources operations, with a significant emphasis on employee relations, leadership coaching, and supporting a diverse workforce of approximately 1,500 employees. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to organizational leaders, balancing compassion with accountability while fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting the organization's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional service.
The ideal candidate is a compassionate, resilient, and hands-on HR Director with proven experience leading HR teams and partnering with senior leadership. This organization is seeking someone who is looking for a long-term opportunity and has the potential to grow into a Vice President-level role within the next 3–5 years as part of its succession planning strategy.
What You Will Do:
Lead day-to-day HR operations, including recruiting, staffing, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management.
Serve as the organization's primary resource for employee relations matters - investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
Partner with organizational leaders to solve workforce challenges and drive employee engagement.
Oversee talent acquisition, workforce planning, and staffing initiatives.
Advise managers on employee relations, policy application, performance management, and employment decisions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; update HR policies and procedures as needed.
Drive process improvements and lead special projects and strategic HR initiatives.
Lead, coach, and develop members of the Human Resources team.
What You Will Have:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including 3+ years in an HR leadership role.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Experience across core HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, and employee development.
Strong employee relations experience with the ability to handle sensitive workplace issues and investigations
Experience supporting a medium to large employee population (300+ employees preferred).
Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment and professionalism.
Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems (Paycor, a plus), Microsoft Office, and other business applications.
Ability to travel statewide, including occasional overnight travel.
