Description

Summary

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and daily operations of the Housekeeping department. This role ensures the property consistently delivers luxury standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest service across all guest rooms. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for luxury hospitality, exceptional attention to detail, and proven experience managing a team in a mountain resort or similar high-touch environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all housekeeping operations for a high-volume resort.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a diverse housekeeping team to ensure excellence.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary action as needed
  • Lead daily briefings to communicate VIP arrivals, special requests, and operational priorities
  • Manage inventory and procurement of guest amenities, linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment
  • Manage seasonal staffing fluctuations typical of a resort destination (ski season, summer peak, shoulder seasons)
  • Conduct regular property walk-throughs and audits of guest rooms, corridors, and public spaces
  • Track and respond to guest feedback related to cleanliness and room presentations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, health department, and environmental regulations
  • Develop and manage the annual housekeeping department budget
  • Monitor labor costs, productivity standards, and cost-per-occupied-room metrics
  • Approve payroll, purchase orders, and vendor contracts
  • Prepare monthly reports on departmental KPIs for senior leadership

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience, including at least 3 years as a Director or Assistant Director of Housekeeping.
  • Proven ability to manage large, diverse teams in a fast-paced, seasonal resort environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in team supervision, staff training, and management of housekeeping teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Forbes training a plus
