We are seeking an experienced Director of Home Health & Hospice Operations & Compliance to oversee and support the day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and overall performance of our Home Health and Hospice agencies.
This position is intended for an experienced healthcare professional who has a strong working knowledge of Home Health and Hospice operations, Medicare/CMS requirements, compliance, surveys, and agency administration.
We are looking for someone who is organized, knowledgeable, proactive, and able to identify and address compliance or operational issues before they become problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day Home Health and Hospice operations
- Help ensure ongoing compliance with Medicare/CMS, state, federal, and applicable licensing requirements
- Maintain agency readiness for surveys, audits, and regulatory reviews
- Stay current with regulatory changes affecting Home Health and Hospice
- Monitor required licenses, certifications, renewals, policies, and regulatory deadlines
- Work closely with clinical leadership and administrative staff
- Oversee and monitor QAPI and quality improvement activities
- Review operational processes and identify areas requiring corrective action or improvement
- Ensure personnel files, credentials, required training, and compliance documentation remain current
- Monitor patient documentation and administrative processes for regulatory compliance
- Assist with Medicare certification, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory matters
- Help ensure Plans of Correction and other corrective actions are completed and maintained when necessary
- Monitor operational deadlines and follow through to ensure required items are completed
- Support census growth, referrals, staffing, billing, and other operational needs
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures consistent with current requirements
- Provide leadership and guidance to administrative and clinical teams
Qualifications
- Previous Home Health and/or Hospice leadership experience required
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in both Home Health and Hospice
- Previous experience as an Administrator, Director, Operations Manager, Compliance Manager, or similar healthcare leadership position
- Strong knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs) and Medicare requirements
- Experience with surveys, audits, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of QAPI and quality improvement requirements
- Strong understanding of healthcare documentation and personnel compliance
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple agencies, priorities, and regulatory deadlines
- Ability to work independently and proactively identify areas requiring attention
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has hands-on Home Health and Hospice experience and understands what it takes to keep an agency operational, organized, compliant, and survey-ready.
We are specifically looking for someone who can bring experience and knowledge to the position—not someone who will require extensive training in Home Health or Hospice regulations.
The right candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities, keeping up with regulatory changes, following through on deadlines, and working with both clinical and administrative teams to maintain strong operations and compliance.
Experience
Required:
- Home Health and/or Hospice: 3+ years
- Healthcare operations, administration, or compliance experience
Preferred:
- Experience with both Medicare-certified Home Health and Hospice agencies
- Previous Administrator or Director-level experience
- Experience participating in or preparing for CMS/state surveys
- QAPI and compliance management experience
