THE ROLE

The Director of Global Marketing is a senior commercial leadership role that extends well beyond traditional marketing. In addition to leading RMS’s marketing strategy and team, this position serves as RMS’s commercial analytics and market intelligence leader — building the data, dashboards, and market insight that inform decisions across Sales, Finance, and executive leadership. The Director owns a commercial intelligence platform covering sales performance, quote activity, pipeline, bookings, and customer trends; leads ongoing market, customer, and competitive intelligence; and serves as commercial project manager for key cross-functional initiatives such as the annual sales meeting, customer surveys, trade shows, and CRM enhancements. The Director also leads RMS’s marketing function and brand strategy — with the marketing team continuing to own creative content, website, and social media execution — and owns the company’s M&A pipeline in partnership with executive leadership. This role is accountable for the overall effectiveness, ROI, and strategic direction of RMS’s commercial analytics, market intelligence, and marketing investment worldwide.

COMMERCIAL DATA & ANALYTICS

  • Strong data and analytics skills, with hands-on proficiency in Excel, Power BI, SQL, and CRM/reporting tools.
  • Ability to design and build dashboards and reporting tools that turn raw commercial data into actionable insight for leadership.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Objectives of this Role

  • Serve as RMS’s commercial analytics and market intelligence leader, building the data and insight that inform decisions across Sales, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Build and maintain a commercial intelligence platform that provides leadership with actionable dashboards on sales performance, quote activity, pipeline, bookings, customer trends, and other key commercial metrics.
  • Own market and customer intelligence, providing regular analysis of industry trends, competitive activity, customer opportunities, and strategic growth areas.
  • Lead RMS’s marketing strategy and team, with the marketing team continuing to own creative content development, website updates, social media, and related execution.
  • Serve as commercial project manager for key initiatives such as the annual sales meeting, customer surveys, trade shows, CRM enhancements, and other commercial improvement projects.
  • Own and manage RMS’s M&A pipeline in partnership with executive leadership, identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing acquisition opportunities aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Own the global marketing budget, allocating resources across regions and channels to maximize ROI, in partnership with Finance and executive leadership.

Commercial Intelligence & Reporting

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting tools covering sales performance, quote activity, pipeline, bookings, customer trends, and other key commercial metrics.
  • Partner with Sales, Finance, and CRM/IT administrators to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of commercial data.
  • Continuously evolve the commercial intelligence platform to meet the changing needs of executive leadership and the sales organization.
  • Leverage AI and advanced analytics tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and depth of commercial reporting.

Market & Customer Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain market intelligence on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs across all regions to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct market segmentation and customer analysis to identify growth opportunities and strategic priorities.
  • Evaluate market opportunities — including new markets, customer segments, and service offerings — and present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Support the development of annual and long-range business plans by providing market analysis, competitive insights, and customer research.
  • Lead voice-of-customer research and analysis, including customer surveys, to inform product, service, and commercial strategy.

Marketing Leadership

  • Set the overall marketing and brand strategy for RMS, ensuring consistent positioning and messaging across all domestic and international offices.
  • Directly manage and mentor the marketing specialist, providing strategic direction while the specialist owns execution of creative content, website updates, social media, and related marketing channels and events.
  • Approve and oversee major campaigns, digital marketing initiatives, and RMS’s global digital presence, including website strategy and SEO.
  • Set strategy and priorities for RMS’s global trade show, conference, and event presence, delegating execution to the marketing team.
  • Act as the primary marketing liaison between RMS headquarters and domestic/international business units, ensuring brand consistency across regions.

Commercial Project Management

  • Serve as commercial project manager for key cross-functional initiatives, including the annual sales meeting, customer surveys, trade shows, and CRM enhancements.
  • Lead other commercial improvement projects as identified by executive leadership, coordinating across Sales, Finance, IT, and other departments.
  • Track and report on the progress and impact of commercial initiatives to executive leadership.

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Own and manage RMS’s M&A pipeline, in partnership with executive leadership, identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing acquisition targets aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Conduct market mapping and target identification to support the company’s acquisition strategy.
  • Support due diligence, market and competitive assessment, and integration planning for acquisitions as needed.

Budget & Team Leadership

  • Own the global marketing budget and provide regular reporting on spend, ROI, and performance to executive leadership and Finance.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing team, growing leadership capacity over time as the function scales.
  • Establish governance, standards, and best practices for marketing and commercial reporting operations across all regions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in marketing, commercial analytics, or a related commercial function, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role managing people and budgets.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Power BI, SQL, and CRM/reporting platforms, with proven experience building dashboards and commercial reporting tools.
  • Strong experience with market segmentation, customer analysis, and competitive/industry intelligence.
  • Proven experience leading marketing for a global or multi-national B2B organization; industrial, manufacturing, or turbomachinery/aftermarket experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing marketing and brand strategy, and leading demand-generation programs.
  • Strong track record of managing and developing teams, including direct people-management experience.
  • Experience managing budgets and reporting ROI to senior leadership and executive teams.
  • Prior experience supporting or leading M&A activity — such as target identification, market mapping, or due diligence — strongly preferred.
  • AI-native mindset, with hands-on experience leveraging AI tools to improve analysis, reporting, and commercial effectiveness.
  • Experience serving as a project manager for cross-functional commercial initiatives (e.g., sales meetings, customer surveys, CRM enhancements) preferred.
  • Outstanding executive communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across cultures and regions.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Travel Requirements: The candidate must be willing to travel in domestic USA and internationally as needed and must possess the ability to obtain all necessary travel documents. Additionally, the candidate should have no legal restrictions that would prevent travel to any country.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
  • Regular travel to domestic and international RMS sites, customer locations, and industry events.
  • This position may be based in any RMS location if required.
  • Travel time is expected to be 20–30%.
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 45 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on business needs.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company’s random or customer-specific drug and alcohol screening and background check. 
  • Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
  • Able to understand, read, write, and speak English. 
  • International Experience a plus
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States


Work Environment

Although this position is based in an office area, the employee may enter a shop environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and “not loud,” there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise.
