Description

The Director of Global Events & Programs is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, managing, and continuously elevating ACBSP's global event portfolio and programming. This role will develop and lead a full spectrum of ACBSP's event and educational offerings — from the Annual Conference and regional events to online learning, professional development seminars, and training programs — with a focus on delivering exceptional experiences for ACBSP's global membership community.

This person will centralize and build ACBSP's event operations, develop and lead a high-performing events team, and partner closely with senior leadership to position ACBSP as a premier global convener and programming resource for business education professionals worldwide.

The Director of Global Events & Programs will report directly to the President & CEO. The Director will supervise the Events team staff, including Manager and Coordinator-level positions and will work closely with Accreditation, Member Services, Strategic Communication, Finance, and senior leadership.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree required but master's degree preferred

Professional Credentials — Required

Candidates must hold the following active, recognized meetings industry credential:

• CMP (Certified Meeting Professional — Events Industry Council)

Candidates who do not hold an active CMP certification at time of application are not eligible for this position. ACBSP will support ongoing certification maintenance and continuing education.

Professional Credentials — Preferred

• DES (Digital Event Strategist — PCMA) — strongly preferred given the significant virtual and hybrid programming responsibilities of this role

• CAE (Certified Association Executive)

Required Experience

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in event management, conference management, or program development — with demonstrated progression into senior or leadership roles

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing events or programs teams

• Demonstrated experience developing and executing large-scale conferences and multi-format event portfolios

• Experience designing and managing online learning programs, webinars, or professional development programming

• Strong strategic thinking skills — with the ability to develop and execute an events and programs strategy aligned with organizational mission and member needs

• Exceptional project management skills — with the ability to manage multiple complex, concurrent initiatives across a global portfolio

• Demonstrated budget management experience — including forecasting, expense management, and financial reporting

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills — including the ability to represent ACBSP with confidence and distinction at the highest professional levels

• Proven ability to build collaborative, professional, and high-performing team cultures

• Impeccable professional demeanor — with the presence, poise, and credibility to represent ACBSP effectively in a broad range of organizational, member, and business community environments

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a nonprofit association or corporate events environment — association experience strongly preferred

• Experience managing international event logistics for globally diverse audiences

• Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning platform selection and implementation

• Experience managing event sponsorships, exhibitor programs, and strategic partnerships

• Demonstrated ability to engage and partner with members of the business community — building relationships that expand organizational reach and programming relevance

• Familiarity with accreditation, higher education, or business education environments

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Location

This is a full-time, in-person opportunity based at ACBSP’s headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.
