Position Summary
The Director of Development is the senior fundraising leader responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive fundraising program that expands philanthropic revenue, strengthens donor relationships, and supports the organization's long-term financial sustainability. Reporting directly to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Director of Development serves as a key member of the Advancement leadership team and is responsible for executing fundraising strategies aligned with Project Hospitality's mission, strategic priorities, and organizational goals.
The Director of Development provides leadership for day-to-day fundraising operations, including major gifts, annual giving, foundation and corporate partnerships, donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, signature events, and community engagement. Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development cultivates and stewards donor relationships, identifies new funding opportunities, and ensures the successful execution of the organization's advancement initiatives.
The Director of Development collaborates with the Senior Development Associate and other assigned development staff such as advancement consultants, grant writers, and external fundraising partners as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer. The Director ensures that departmental activities, systems, and resources are aligned to achieve fundraising goals and support organizational growth.
In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development supports the work of the Board of Directors' Development Committee by preparing reports, coordinating meetings, and assisting with Board engagement in fundraising and donor cultivation activities.
As a visible ambassador for Project Hospitality, the Director of Development helps strengthen the organization's philanthropic presence throughout Staten Island and the greater New York Community while fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
