We are searching for a Director of Field Operations for a regional residential residential restoration franchise that owns 5 locations in 4 states across the mid-atlantic area - based in Harford/Baltimore county. This leader will oversee the field execution for the entire 5-branch footprint, with all Branch Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators reporting directly into them. MUST HAVE 5+ years of Project Management Experience in 24-7 emergency restoration.

Position Overview

The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership, financial oversight, and technical direction for all production, mitigation, and reconstruction activities across our 5-location Mid-Atlantic footprint. This leader is directly responsible for ensuring all regional projects are executed safely, on time, and above target gross profit margins. [ 1 ]

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between executive strategy and field execution standardizing standard operating procedures (SOPs), mentoring branch leadership, driving business development, and integrating future branch acquisitions into our corporate ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Multi-Site Operational Leadership & Standardization

  • Regional Oversight: Direct and hold accountable Branch Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators across all existing locations (including SMBA & SMBV) and future acquired territories.
  • SOP Enforcement: Author, implement, and maintain scalable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality, safety compliance, and franchise standard alignment across all states.
  • Resource & Asset Optimization: Oversee the efficient deployment, maintenance, and tracking of major company assets, including commercial vehicle fleets, specialized mitigation equipment, and material inventory.
  • Talent Development: Mentor, train, and manage production personnel. Partner with recruiting to optimize the hiring, onboarding, and retention pipeline for field staff. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

2. Financial Performance & Estimating Audits

  • Margin Protection: Establish a rigorous review process for scopes of work and estimates, ensuring accurate file submission and maximizing supplements through the insurance adjustment process. [ 1 ]
  • Financial Accountability: Conduct monthly financial and operational metric reviews with the Owner to analyze P&L performance, cycle times, and regional profitability.
  • KPI Management: Drive corporate performance metrics, including emergency response SLAs, job file compliance, material waste reduction, and labor efficiency.

3. Strategic Growth & Emergency Readiness

  • M&A Integration: Lead the operational due diligence, asset evaluation, and team integration processes for newly acquired franchise locations in the region.
  • Market Development: Collaborate closely with Sales and Business Development leadership to design and execute regional growth strategies, target corporate accounts, and capture market share.
  • Disaster Response Architecture: Oversee the structural design and staffing of the 24/7/365 emergency on-call rotation, ensuring total readiness and rapid mobilization during catastrophic weather events or large-scale commercial losses. [ 1 ]

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing multi-site, multi-state field operations, specifically within the disaster restoration (IICRC standards), commercial roofing, or industrial facility services sectors.
  • Location & Travel: Must be based in or willing to commute daily to Harford County, MD. Ability to execute a highly structured regional travel schedule to audit field operations across MD, PA, DE, and VA.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced mastery of restoration workflow platforms and estimating software - Xactimate.
  • Leadership Style: A proven "coach-and-hold-accountable " leadership style with the ability to manage, respect, and influence decentralized, remote field teams.
