The Director of Faith Formation is a practicing Catholic who provides leadership and vision for the parish's catechetical ministry, forming children and families as disciples of Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive faith formation program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Director fosters a culture of evangelization, supports parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith, and promotes active participation in the sacramental life and mission of the Church.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the K-8 Faith Formation program serving approximately 400 students and their families
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate catechetical programming rooted in Church teaching and aligned with Archdiocesan guidelines
  • Coordinate preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation in collaboration with parish staff
  • Recruit, form, and support catechists and volunteers, providing ongoing training and spiritual formation
  • Supervise Faith Formation staff, including programming and administrative personnel
  • Foster a family-centered model of catechesis, equipping parents to live and share the faith in the home
  • Collaborate with clergy, parish staff, and Leadership Team to integrate faith formation into the broader parish mission
  • Manage annual program registration, communication, and related administrative processes
  • Oversee the Faith Formation budget in collaboration with the Pastor and Director of Finance and Operations
  • Maintain regular communication with families, volunteers, and parish leadership
  • Participate in parish and regional collaboration with other faith formation leaders

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, Religious Education, or related field required
  • 5+ years as a member of a Parish Staff and 3+ years experience in parish faith formation, catechesis, or pastoral ministry preferred
  • Master's degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, Religious Education, or related field preferred
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and families
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Office 365), Canva, Weebly and Pushpay or other similar systems

This position has an annualized salary range of $43,000.00 - $61,000.00. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
