Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of all facilities operations across the college's campus, totaling approximately 650,000 square feet, ensuring a safe, functional and welcoming campus environment. Responsible for management of building maintenance services, grounds including snow removal, college fleet operations, preventative maintenance, events support, environmental services and other duties as assigned. Manage and oversee building construction, campus renovations projects and campus initiatives that supports the strategic goals of the institution. Works collaboratively with all constituents of the college to support departmental and college objectives.
This position develops and implements strategic facilities plans that are aligned with institutional priorities, ensures regulatory compliance, oversees departmental budgets, and fosters a culture of safety, customer service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The director serves as the primary facilities liaison with campus departments, public agencies and external vendors.
Essential Job Functions
Provide overall leadership and direction for Facilities Management operations including maintenance, grounds, snow/ice removal, fleet management, event support, and environmental services
Develop and implement short- and long-term facilities plans that align with the college's strategic goals
Develop and manage deferred maintenance plan and annually evaluate for equipment and buildings
Advise senior leadership on facilities planning, infrastructure needs, and capital priorities
Ensure timely and effective facility set-ups for academic programs and campus events
Develop and manage departmental operating budget; monitor expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility; oversee procurement processes, bid documents, vendor selection and contract management
Provide leadership in recruitment, performance evaluation, and professional development
Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability and customer service excellence
Ensure staff training in regulatory compliance, safety standards and best practices
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, ADA, environmental regulations and EEO requirements)
Maintain appropriate documentation, inspections, certifications and reporting requirements
Provide assistance during campus emergencies, severe weather events and after-hours incidents, ensuring continuity of operations planning for facilities-related functions
Occasional evening and weekend work is required, along with on-call duties
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in facilities management, engineering, business administration, operations, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible facilities management experience, including supervisory and budget oversight experience
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a diverse environment
Working knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education facilities management
Knowledge of New Hampshire contracting and building processes
Professional certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), or equivalent
Physical Requirements
The essential functions of this job require an individual who is able to adequately (1) communicate with all members of the facilities team and senior leadership of the college, (2) be proficient in computer literacy including spreadsheets, word processing, database processing and project management tools, In the course of the typical workday, one may be required to transport oneself short distances to the core campus to attend campus meetings and events and to assess campus-wide facility concerns.
