    Description

    LDV Hospitality is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Director of Events to lead event sales and strategy for our food, beverage, and event venues at The James Miami.

    This position will be responsible for driving event revenue across LDV Hospitality’s portfolio of spaces within the property, including Barlume, Barlume Beach, The Holiday Club, Beach, The Holiday Club, and the Banquet Spaces. The Director of Events will serve as the primary sales leader for LDV-managed venues while working closely with the hotel’s Group Sales Managers to co-sell banquet opportunities and maximize group, catering, and event revenue across the property.

    Venues & Sales Responsibility

    Barlume Beach — Drive private event, group dining, reception, buyout, and experiential opportunities for the beachfront food and beverage venue.

    The Holiday Club — Develop and sell private events, nightlife and entertainment-driven events, brand activations, corporate functions, celebrations, and full or partial buyouts.

    Hotel Terrace — Position and sell the terrace for social and corporate events, receptions, dinners, activations, and other private functions.

    Banquet Spaces — Partner with The James Miami Group Sales Managers to co-sell the hotel’s banquet and meeting spaces. Collaborate with the hotel sales team to identify opportunities, develop proposals, conduct site visits, and convert group and catering business while ensuring a cohesive sales approach between LDV Hospitality and the hotel.

    Key Responsibilities

    Event Sales & Revenue Generation

    • Lead sales efforts for private events across Barlume Beach, The Holiday Club, Hotel Terrace, and applicable banquet spaces.
    • Proactively generate new business through outreach to corporate clients, event planners, destination management companies, wedding planners, agencies, entertainment companies, luxury brands, and other key Miami market segments.
    • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified event opportunities.
    • Respond to inbound event inquiries promptly and strategically, identifying opportunities to maximize revenue across multiple venues.
    • Conduct site tours and client presentations, effectively communicating the unique positioning and capabilities of each space.
    • Prepare customized proposals, event packages, contracts, and pricing strategies.
    • Negotiate event terms while protecting established pricing, food and beverage minimums, rental fees, and profitability goals.
    • Consistently achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual event revenue goals.
    • Identify opportunities to cross-sell clients between LDV venues and hotel banquet spaces.

    Hotel Sales Partnership

    • Develop a strong working relationship with The James Miami Group Sales Managers and hotel leadership.
    • Co-sell banquet spaces with the hotel Group Sales team, particularly for groups requiring meeting space, catered functions, receptions, dinners, or ancillary events.
    • Partner with Group Sales Managers during the proposal and contracting process to create comprehensive experiences for hotel groups.
    • Review upcoming hotel groups and room blocks to identify additional food, beverage, banquet, and private event opportunities.
    • Participate in relevant hotel sales meetings, pipeline reviews, site visits, and client presentations.
    • Ensure clear ownership and communication for shared leads and opportunities between LDV Hospitality and the hotel sales organization.
    • Create seamless cross-selling opportunities between guest rooms, banquet spaces, restaurants, nightlife, and outdoor venues.

    Sales Strategy & Business Development

    • Develop and execute an annual event sales strategy for the property.
    • Establish relationships with key Miami-based and national event planners, corporations, agencies, wedding professionals, entertainment partners, and luxury/lifestyle brands.
    • Represent LDV Hospitality and The James Miami at networking events, industry showcases, client events, trade shows, and sales missions as appropriate.
    • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, new venue openings, and demand patterns within the Miami hospitality and events market.
    • Collaborate with leadership to establish seasonal pricing, food and beverage minimums, rental fees, and event packages.
    • Identify need periods and develop targeted sales initiatives to generate incremental revenue.
    • Build repeat business and long-term client relationships through consistent follow-up and account management.

    Event Planning & Operational Collaboration

    • Ensure a seamless transition from the sales process into event planning and execution.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed event information within designated CRM and event management systems.
    • Partner closely with Operations, Culinary, Banquets, Hotel Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure events are operationally feasible and financially successful.
    • Communicate client expectations, contracted details, special requests, and VIP information clearly to operational teams.
    • Participate in BEO and event meetings as appropriate.
    • Maintain awareness of event execution and client satisfaction, providing support and escalation when necessary.
    • Conduct post-event follow-up to strengthen relationships and generate repeat business.

    Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and event revenue projections.
    • Track pace against budget and established sales goals.
    • Ensure contracts, deposits, payments, and event documentation are completed accurately and according to company policy.
    • Protect event profitability through strategic pricing and appropriate management of concessions and discounts.
    • Provide regular reporting on sales activity, conversion, pipeline, lost business, and market trends.
    • Maintain accurate client and account information within the CRM.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 5+ years of hospitality, catering, private events, or hotel sales experience, with previous leadership experience strongly preferred.
    • Proven track record of achieving event and catering sales goals.
    • Experience selling a combination of hotel banquet space, restaurants, nightlife venues, rooftops/terraces, and/or lifestyle hospitality venues preferred.
    • Strong understanding of the Miami event, hospitality, wedding, corporate, entertainment, and luxury markets.
    • Established relationships within the local event-planning and hospitality community highly desirable.
