    Position Overview

PDM is seeking an experienced, hands-on engineering leader to join as Director of Engineering - High Voltage & Circuit Breaker Solutions. This individual will bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and project development, bringing high-voltage transformer, circuit breakers, and power system expertise to our customers' project needs.

You will be instrumental in supporting solution development, optimizing transformer applications for power generation and transmission projects, and driving adoption of PDM products by working directly with client engineers and internal stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer Engineering & Solution Design

    • Lead and execute technical scoping and solution development with customers (engineers, developers, EPCs) across power generation, transmission, and distribution sectors.
    • Participate in customer meetings to review project layouts, electrical one-lines, and site-specific integration of PDM transformer and circuit breaker solutions.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize and differentiate PDM product offerings during the design process.

    Project & Sales Enablement

    • Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams to provide pre-sales technical guidance and develop BOMs, specs, and project-specific solutions.
    • Develop standard layout templates and documentation that accelerate the project quoting and bid process.
    • Ensure all proposed solutions align with PDM manufacturing capabilities and delivery timelines.

    Cross-functional Engineering Leadership

    • Coordinate with PDM's manufacturing, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure custom solution deliverability.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for field engineers and sales teams across different verticals (Data Center, Industrial, Utility).
    • Refine PDM's engineering support model to scale across growth markets.

    Team Development & Vertical Support

    • Develop and mentor internal engineering staff to become technical leads supporting each sales vertical.
    • Create playbooks and training programs for internal sales engineers and channel partners.
    • Maintain a talent pipeline by working with HR to grow the next generation of PDM engineering talent.

    Requirements

    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required (multi-state preferred)
    • 10+ years of experience in utility-scale engineering, power generation, transmission, or transformer and circuit breaker design/application
    • Experience managing multi-stakeholder technical negotiations (utilities, regulators, developers)
    • Deep understanding of grid interconnection, substation design, and protection and switching schemes, and transformer lifecycle
    • Strong project management skills-can lead multimillion-dollar engineering projects from concept through commissioning
    • Experience leading cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, and customer success
    • Strong communicator with ability to translate technical concepts to business audiences

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with EPCs, RFPs, and proposal development for power infrastructure projects
    • Familiarity with NERC/FERC regulations, interconnection standards, and clean energy policy, and IEEE/ANSI circuit breaker standards (C37 series) and substation protection schemes
    • Familiarity with transformer and circuit breaker factory operations and logistics

    Why Join PDM?

    • Competitive Base salary + performance bonus

    • Full benefits package (Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, PTO, parental leave)
