Job Title: Director of Dialysis - Full Time (40 hours per week)

York General is seeking an experienced and compassionate nurse leader to serve as our Director of Dialysis. 

This position provides strategic leadership, clinical expertise, and operational oversight for our dialysis program while ensuring exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes. The Director of Dialysis serves as a provider and clinical resource for hemodialysis nursing care, including management and direction of staffing and scheduling. This leader will guide the implementation of evidence-based standards of care, address clinical concerns, and support a culture focused on patient safety, quality, and excellence. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Director performs the essential functions of a Dialysis RN, provides education to patients and families, maintains dialysis water quality standards, ensures infection prevention and control requirements are met, and oversees compliance with all state, federal, and Medicare Conditions for Coverage related to inpatient hemodialysis services.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for all dialysis services and hemodialysis nursing practice.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, employee development, and departmental operations to ensure safe and effective patient care. 
  • Serve as a clinical resource and perform Dialysis RN duties as needed.
  • Oversee patient care delivery and ensure individualized plans of care are developed and implemented.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff regarding dialysis treatment and best practices.
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives and monitor patient outcomes and operational metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions for Coverage, state and federal regulations, accrediting agencies, and dialysis network requirements.
  • Maintain accountability for dialysis water quality standards, equipment oversight, testing, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control activities and promote a culture of safety and risk awareness.
  • Manage patient intake, access processes, and dialysis waitlist oversight. 
  • Prepare and present operational, quality, and regulatory reports to hospital leadership. 

What You'll Bring:

  •  Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nebraska.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid Nebraska driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute medical-surgical nursing experience.
  • At least 6 months of experience caring for patients with permanent kidney failure or kidney transplant patients, including dialysis training and experience; OR at least 18 months of experience providing care to maintenance dialysis or kidney transplant patients, including dialysis training and experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of dialysis operations, quality improvement, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
