Job Title: Education Foundation Director of Development Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose: The Director of Development will strategize, oversee, and implement the overall fundraising efforts for the Hays CISD Education Foundation (HEF). The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director, assisting in planning efforts to increase funding levels in support of HEF's mission. This position will also ensure the growth of individual giving strategies and events to support educators across the district.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Associate or Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills: Nonprofit and/or school district experience (preferred) Knowledge of the Hays CISD community (preferred) Ability to manage records and handle sensitive donor and community relationships Proficient in the use of donor management, fundraising, and marketing/social media software preferred Proven record of face-to-face solicitation and successful identification, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts Demonstrated success in raising major gifts and stewardship of donors Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases and do word processing Ability to prioritize workflow to address the multiple needs of the supervisor or the department Ability to multi-task in a busy environment with frequent interruptions Experience in financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Fundraising Strategy:
Create and update content and manage a strong portfolio of prospective donors in the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) focused on building relationships for current and future giving opportunities and provide monthly updates on agreed upon goals.
Generate regular reports to update leadership and campaign chairs on the campaign initiative's progress, helping to prepare materials for monthly Board meetings.
Co-create with the Executive Director, Foundation staff and Executive Board a multi -year development and stewardship plan that includes annual plans for maximizing philanthropic support from parents, alumni, individuals, corporations and foundations.
Record information from visits and support in the donor database accordingly. Hays Consolidated Independent School District
Organize and maintain Foundation databases; maintain records, including financials.
Implement fundraising activities in coordination with the Executive Director including leading the annual giving campaigns, as well as, assisting and working with the entire staff in all fundraising related events.

Solicit and help secure underwriting, sponsorships, in-kind donations and large auction items for each event as needed. Donor Relations:
Organize and maintain existing tracking systems for events including all donations, underwriting sponsorships, guests and follow-up of events and donations in collaboration with the HEF team.
Organize and maintain Foundation databases; maintain records, including financials; send stewardship letters and tax forms to donors.
Manage relationships with donors through updates, campus site visits, and participation in relevant meetings, calls, and events.
Develop and execute strategies to engage and retain donors, ensuring long-term support.
Conduct donor surveys and gather feedback to improve donor experience.
Represent the organization at designated events and in the community at the request of the Executive Director in order to continue to cultivate relationships. Team Leadership:
Supervise development staff or volunteers involved in fundraising activities.
Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills Marketing and Communications:
Collaborate with the communications team to create marketing materials that support fundraising efforts.
Ensure consistent messaging and branding in all development communications. Administrative Duties:
Maintain donor records, including database management, pledges, receipts, and acknowledgements .
Update Salesforce, website and other related spreadsheets to track donor activity and ensure donor recognition.
Prepare monthly status reports for the Executive Director and Board.
Manage, research, and prospect new donor opportunities.
Oversee the development budget.
Support campus fundraising and volunteer committees as needed.
Partner with chairs and committee volunteers with securing underwriters and table sponsors for all events.
Work with HEF Executive Director and Treasurer on HEF's financials as needed.
Oversee bookkeeper to ensure monthly account reconciliations are conducted under best accounting practices.
Demonstrate ability to think strategically and creatively and work well under pressure.
Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity, confidentiality and professionalism while working with all stakeholders, board members and staff. District Partnerships:

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises and coordinates the work of staff and volunteers, providing leadership for fundraising and donor relations.
