Lead and scale the permitting operations for a growing construction services organization in South Florida. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll build a high-performing team, implement efficient processes, and support expansion across multiple trades and jurisdictions.

Your role

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of permitting professionals while establishing accountability and performance standards.
• Oversee permitting operations across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, windows and doors, pools, and other construction trades.
• Manage the full permitting lifecycle from application preparation through municipal submissions, plan reviews, approvals, inspections, and closeouts.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures, training programs, quality controls, and efficient workflows.
• Build and maintain relationships with building departments, municipalities, contractors, and permitting stakeholders.
• Identify permitting delays, resolve complex issues, and implement solutions to improve turnaround times.
• Utilize permitting software, reporting platforms, and automation to streamline departmental operations.
• Establish and monitor performance indicators, including application volume, processing times, approval rates, and team productivity.
• Support department growth through hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development.
• Develop scalable permitting processes to support operations across additional jurisdictions and markets.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction permitting, preferably with specialty contractors, permitting services firms, or construction services organizations.
• Proven experience managing permitting teams or leading departmental operations.
• Strong working knowledge of permitting requirements across multiple construction trades.
• Experience coordinating with South Florida municipalities, building departments, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Understanding of the complete permitting lifecycle, including applications, plan reviews, approvals, inspections, and closeouts.
• Demonstrated ability to develop procedures, improve workflows, and manage high-volume permitting activity.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
• Comfortable working with technology, electronic permitting platforms, reporting systems, and process improvement tools.
• Ability to work primarily on-site in Broward County, Florida.

Helpful, but not required

• Experience managing permitting operations across multiple counties, states, or jurisdictions.
• Background building, restructuring, or expanding a permitting department.
• Experience with permitting software and workflow management platforms.
• Experience implementing technology, automation, or operational reporting systems.
• Prior experience working with multiple specialty construction trades.
• Municipal building department leadership experience with transferable operational management skills.
