Director of Compliance

Position Summary

The Director of Compliance is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s enterprise-wide compliance program across all dental office locations. This leadership role ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, industry standards, and ethical practices while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence. The Director of Compliance will collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and executive leadership teams to maintain effective compliance systems, mitigate risk, and support organizational growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and oversee the company-wide compliance program to ensure alignment with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
• Develop, maintain, and update compliance-related policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for team members and affiliated practices.
• Provide oversight of OSHA, CDC, EPA, HIPAA, radiation safety, biomedical waste, and state dental compliance regulations for all office locations.
• Lead the reporting, investigation, documentation, and resolution of compliance incidents, ensuring timely communication with appropriate stakeholders.
• Manage the Patient Quality Assurance (PQA) team and oversee insurance carrier compliance initiatives.
• Partner with dental vendors and clinical supply providers to ensure all offices remain compliant with biomedical waste disposal, OSHA requirements, and radiation safety regulations.
• Support the compliance and operational integration of new and acquired office locations.
• Ensure all compliance policies, procedures, and training materials remain current, accurate, and aligned with regulatory updates and organizational needs.
• Schedule, coordinate, and chair monthly Clinical Compliance meetings.
• Conduct initial, annual, and ongoing safety and compliance audits for all office locations and oversee corrective action plans as needed.
• Develop and deliver compliance and safety training programs for new employee onboarding and ongoing staff education.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, HR, and clinical teams to drive organizational alignment around compliance and patient safety initiatives.
• Monitor regulatory developments and proactively implement changes to ensure organizational readiness and compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of audits, investigations, corrective actions, and compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of healthcare compliance experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Dental industry and Dental Service Organization (DSO) experience strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks including HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, EPA, and applicable state dental regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading internal investigations, compliance audits, and regulatory response activities.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and foster a culture of compliance and accountability.
• Strong critical thinking, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and overlapping deadlines.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team development capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management systems preferred.
