    Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Director of Communications, Brand and Marketing for one of the largest integrated service companies in the construction industry, experiencing continued growth across the business today. Made up of a group of 5 companies focused on various aspects of the construction industry, the company has proved to be a leader in multiple areas and specialties and offers customers turnkey solutions across all business units. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director will oversee communications, brand and marketing across all 5 companies in the group.

    Role Overview

The Director of Communications, Brand and Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for the integrated communications, brand, and marketing function across the enterprise. This is a newly elevated position that brings together corporate communications, internal messaging, brand stewardship, and marketing strategy under unified leadership. It reflects the company's growth and the increasing strategic importance of how the company presents itself internally and externally.

The Director serves as a key advisor to the CEO, CFO, and Executive Leadership Team (ELT), shaping how the company communicates with its people, its clients, and the industry. They will lead a small, established team and are expected to build trust, set direction, and raise the overall standard of communications and brand output across the business.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership

    • Serve as the company's senior communications and brand strategist, advising the CEO and ELT on messaging, positioning, and communications approach across internal and external audiences.
    • Lead the integration of communications, brand, and marketing into a cohesive, high-functioning department.
    • Contribute to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives such as culture, values, safety, and organizational change as the communications lead.
    • Develop and maintain the company's brand voice, messaging framework, and style standards across all channels and formats.

    Executive & Internal Communications

    • Partner closely with the CEO, CFO, and ELT to develop communications strategies, messaging plans, and content for employee audiences, operating as a true strategic partner rather than a service function.
    • Write and advise on statements, speeches, presentations, and talking points for senior leadership in both internal and external settings, including industry conferences, publications, and events.
    • Oversee the production and distribution of company-wide communications including CEO updates, town halls, and major announcements.
    • Ensure consistent, timely, and well-crafted communications across all departments, working in partnership with HR, Safety, IT, and other functions.
    • Proactively anticipate business priorities and communications needs, bringing ideas forward rather than waiting to be directed.
    • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, establishing credibility and authority through consistent judgment and follow-through.

    Brand & Marketing Leadership

    • Lead the company's marketing strategy, building upon existing brand and marketing efforts with a structured, enterprise-wide strategic approach.
    • Define the company's market positioning relative to competitors, ensuring marketing efforts reflect a deliberate, differentiated point of view.
    • Guide the evolution of the company's brand identity, visual standards, and market presence, working closely with the Brand & Marketing Manager and team.
    • Set direction for channel strategy across digital and traditional marketing, evaluating where the company should invest attention and resources for the greatest impact.
    • Lead strategic direction for digital marketing efforts ensuring execution aligns with broader business goals.
    • Establish meaningful measurement and reporting practices for marketing performance, ensuring leadership has visibility into return on marketing investment.
    • Contribute to marketing budget planning and prioritization, advocating for investment where it will meaningfully advance the company's growth and reputation.
    • Identify opportunities to expand the company's presence and credibility in target markets, working closely with business development and leadership to align marketing with growth priorities.
    • Set the strategic direction for the company website, ensuring it reflects brand standards and business priorities; lead major developments, redevelopments, or new iterations of the site.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead, support, and develop the team of communications, brand and marketing professionals.
    • Manage the transition of an existing team thoughtfully, building trust and establishing clear roles, expectations, and ways of working.
    • Assess team structure and capacity on an ongoing basis, building the team needed to meet the company's objectives.
    • Invest in the growth and development of team members, identifying strengths, providing mentorship, and creating pathways for expanded responsibility over time.
    • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular, constructive feedback to support individual and team growth.
    • Foster a collaborative, high-standards team culture that is responsive to the needs of the broader business.
    • Champion the team's contributions to senior leadership, ensuring their work is visible and valued at the executive level.

    External Profile & Industry Presence

    • Manage the company's presence in industry publications, associations, and media including features, editorial contributions, and executive profiles.
    • Enhance and maintain the company's reputation as a credible, well-regarded voice in all sectors of operations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, with demonstrable breadth across internal communications, brand, and marketing.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and leading marketing strategy, including market positioning, channel strategy, and measurement of marketing performance.
    • Proven experience leading and developing teams, including navigating inherited team dynamics and organizational change.
    • Track record of working directly with senior executives — writing for, advising, and influencing at the C-suite level.
    • Experience managing external agency and contractor relationships.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; an exceptional writer who can adapt voice and format across contexts.
    • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Experience in or strong familiarity with the construction, infrastructure, or related industry preferred.

    The Opportunity

This role represents the realization of a communications and brand function that the company has been building toward. The incoming Director will have the opportunity to shape how a growing, respected company tells its story — internally and externally — at a pivotal moment in its development. It requires someone who can lead with confidence, build trust across a close-knit leadership team, and bring genuine strategic value from day one.

The estimated salary for this position is starting at $150,000. Actual salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
