Director of Maintenance & Repair Chassis Leasing

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Director of Maintenance & Repair to lead chassis fleet management, maintenance and repair operations, yard operations, and union workforce performance across multiple locations.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for
chassis availability, fleet utilization, repair turnaround, safety, customer service, and financial performance.
What Youll Do
- Lead chassis fleet management, including leasing relationships, pool management, allocation, utilization, and cost control
- Oversee chassis maintenance and repair operations, ensuring roadability, safety, quality, and timely turnaround
- Manage chassis yard operations, including staging, traffic flow, space utilization, and overall organization
- Lead and develop management personnel and union mechanics while maintaining strong labor relations
- Partner with customers, ports, vendors, and internal operations teams to resolve issues and maintain high service levels
- Oversee equipment inventories and asset utilization across assigned locations
- Establish and monitor operational goals, budgets, productivity, and performance metrics
- Lead safety programs, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Implement process improvements and new technologies to improve efficiency and productivity
What Were Looking For
- Bachelors degree in Transportation, Logistics, Operations Management, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years managing union labor, with strong knowledge of union contracts and labor relations
- Extensive experience with chassis leasing, chassis pools, fleet management, or intermodal equipment
- Strong understanding of chassis repair/maintenance operations and yard management
- Knowledge of chassis fleet/pool management systems and repair shop workflows
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of chassis maintenance and roadability standards
- Proven leadership skills in a fast-paced, complex operating environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work varied hours and travel between assigned locations as needed
