The Director of Career Services and Academic Outreach provides strategic, tactical, and operational leadership for the university's career readiness, workforce development, and dual enrollment initiatives. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality career preparation services and educational outreach programs that connect students' academic experiences with professional success. The Director develops partnerships with employers, community organizations, internships sites, and schools to expand opportunities that align with industry and workforce needs while supporting academic excellence and access.
Essential Functions:
Academic Outreach and Dual Enrollment
- Administer and implement operational processes for dual enrollment programs, including partnerships with public, charter, and private high schools.
- Oversee program delivery, scheduling, and proctoring of assessments for all dual enrollment student
- Initiate, communicate, and monitor qualifications for Dual Enrollment High School Instructors, including managing instructor costs and billing recommendations.
- Monitor course grades, master scheduling, and proof of schedules for all dual enrollment courses.
- Represent the university at district and community advisory meetings related to credit alignment and dual enrollment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards governing dual enrollment operations.
- Collaborate with academic deans, faculty, and staff to ensure quality delivery and continuous improvement of dual enrollment and outreach programs.
Career and Workforce Development
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for career services and workforce development aligned with institutional goals.
- Collaborate with academic departments to integrate career readiness initiatives and NACE competencies into the curriculum.
- Design and oversee programs that enhance student employability, including internships, workshops, networking events, and career exploration initiatives.
- Cultivate partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry leaders to create internship and job placement pipelines.
- Utilize data analytics to access program effectiveness and prepare regular reports on students.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated creative solutions.

- Knowledge of NACE career readiness competencies preferred.
- Uses independent judgment in planning sequence of major operations and in making decisions from complex alternatives. Analyzes data to solve complex, non-routine problems; interprets general policy and develops instructions for others.
- Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.
- Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
- Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in administration, Education, Leadership, Counseling, Career Development, or a closely related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience in higher education, workforce development, or academic program management.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
