Director of Business Development

FT Lauderdale, FL

Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development role requires exceptional management of sales performance among sales staff. This position is responsible for coaching, mentoring and developing the talent of their sales associates to achieve planned growth within their district.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops long-term, strategic relationships with key accounts within a portfolio of business, negotiating contracts, initiating proposals, and closing deals. Conducts financial feasibility studies and develops proposals for new business opportunities. 

  • Interacts frequently with external customers to provide an exchange of information. 

  • Builds long-term customer relationships at an Executive level while meeting short-term objectives.

  • Develops customer account plans to include: customer and Halperns’ objectives and implementation strategies, promotion of the customers and Halperns’ stated values and positions, sales / promotion of the Halperns’ brand throughout the customer’s organization.

  • Coordinates and communicates strategic account activity to senior leadership and management and engages, where appropriate, senior leadership sponsorship of customers.

  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborates with Directors, North American Sales teams, and other department leaders to understand the new business needs of each division..

  • Creates and reviews monthly reports.

  • Represents Halperns’ at customer and industry events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  •  Must have industry and segment knowledge and be able to analyze and interpret data and aggressively develop newbusiness.  
  • Must be a strategic thinker in order to build relationships, network, and link resources to plan and execute businesspractices and achieve business goals. 
  • Meat and/or Seafood industry experience required 

  • Broadline sales experience preferred. 

  • Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment. 

  • Experience with commodity markets and forecasting models; and ability to translate those to make decisions is ideal. 

  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem solving capabilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak to customers both internal and external as adepartment representative.  

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree  in Meat Science, Animal Science, Culinary, Marketing, Sales, or related field

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 5 + years previous experience in either foodservice or retail sales, or culinaryexperience.
