JOB SUMMARY

Director of Business Development is responsible for generating new business for the company as well as receiving and processing new client inquiries. Generating new business includes but is not limited to developing new relationships with event planners, venues, and corporate businesses that may require a caterer relationship. Processing new client inquiries including writing proposals, and working with the client on revisions. The Director of Business Development will use discretion in deciding the proper vendor resources within the company guidelines that will contribute to the successful execution of their booked sale. They will work in conjunction with the production team on acquiring other vendor quotes, scheduling and attending walkthroughs, and attending events.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Proactively seeks and creates opportunities for new client relationships
  • Proactively seeks and creates opportunities for relationships with event planners
  • Researches and pursues new venues seeking catering relationships
  • Researches geographical markets as opportunties for company growth
  • Makes daily sales calls
  • Communicates with clients relating to the design and production of their events
  • Works cohesively with the Production team in responding to the clients' production needs, such as layouts and vendor quotes
  • Schedules and attends venue walkthroughs with the Production team
  • Writes client menus and assists in revising
  • Attends events as deemed appropriate by the Owner
  • Recognizes the opportunity for additional sales in interactions with clients.
  • Works cohesively with the Owner and Director of Sales and under Owner and Director of Sales direction in seeking new business
  • Works cohesivley with the Owner to develop new marketing materials
  • Schedules and attends venue walkthroughs and client meetings
  • Acquires and maintains vendor bids
  • Sources new vendors when necessary
  • Draws and maintains event layouts
  • Creates FOH production books for events
  • Works events as an event manager when deemed appropriate by management
  • Writes Warehouse load in lists
  • Writes Task Assignment Sheets
  • Reserves rental vehicles when necessary
  • Sends out thank you cards immediately following each event
  • Works cohesively with the Director of Production in executing all event details with accuracy
  • Communicates BOH event details to the Kitchen in regular meetings

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Owner
  • Represents the company positively in all marketing opportunities
  • Answers the office phone
  • Participates in the organization and general cleanliness of the office
  • Organizes and Retains all emails including vendor quotes
  • Performs miscellaneous errands related to events or general office needs
