SCHEDULE: 2026-2027 School Year - 260 days (12-month Administrative contract)

SALARY: Commensurate based on experience

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director of Business and Support Services serves as the district's chief financial and operational officer and a key member of the Superintendent's leadership team. The position is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the district's financial affairs and operational support services to ensure fiscal integrity, efficient operations, and alignment with district strategic priorities.

The Executive Director provides leadership and oversight for the district's financial operations, budget development, accounting systems, purchasing, facilities and maintenance, transportation, technology services, food services, capital projects, and risk management. The position advises the Superintendent and Board of Education on financial strategy, resource allocation, and long-term planning to support student achievement and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or related field
  • Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) certification or eligibility
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional credential
  • Experience with Michigan public school finance systems and reporting
  • Experience managing bond programs or capital projects
  • Experience supervising multiple operational departments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Kâ12 public school human resources leadership experience.
  • Administrative certification (or eligibility) in the state of Michigan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a key member of the district administrative team.
  • Develop and implement district-wide human resource strategies aligned with district goals.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of all staff.
  • Implement strategies to attract high-quality, diverse candidates.
  • Ensure effective employee orientation and support systems.
  • Manage and support the district mentor/mentee program

Labor Relations & Contract Administration

  • Lead and support collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Interpret, administer, and ensure compliance with labor contracts and board policies.
  • Serve as the district liaison with employee associations.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Oversee investigations related to employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title IX, FLSA).
  • Provide guidance to administrators on best practices in supervision, evaluation, and discipline.

Evaluation & Performance Systems

  • Support district evaluation systems for all employee groups.
  • Promote professional growth and continuous improvement for staff.

Certification & Records Management

  • Oversee personnel records, certifications, licensure, and background checks.
  • Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of HR systems.

Professional Development

  • Collaborate with district leaders to design and support professional learning programs.
