For 35+ years, we've helped clients navigate some of the most technically complex and regulated work in the country — and we've built a reputation for actually doing what we say we'll do. Our Building Performance group brings that same standard to commissioning, energy audits, benchmarking compliance, building envelope, and facility condition assessments across the Pacific Northwest. Now we're looking for someone to lead it. The role: As Director of Building Performance Services, you'll own the technical direction and project execution of our BCx group. That means leading complex projects from the front, building the templates and standards that scale our work, mentoring the engineers and managers who deliver it, and showing up as a credible technical partner to our clients. You'll report directly to the VP of Service Delivery. This isn't a heads-down individual contributor role, and it isn't pure people management either. The right person leads on both sides — technical and team — and uses every complex project as a training opportunity for the group. What you'll be doing:
What we're looking for: A four-year degree in engineering, management, building sciences, or a related field, plus 10+ years of industry experience — or the equivalent mix of education and experience. Technical certifications like PE, CCP, LEED AP, or CEA are strongly preferred. Experience with CxPlanner and Bluebeam is a plus, as is hands-on experience helping clients comply with Washington's Clean Buildings Performance Standard or similar legislation. Beyond the credentials, we're looking for someone who's self-motivated, professional, and genuinely good with people — clients, contractors, and employees alike. You should be comfortable influencing across teams and disciplines, navigating contracts and budgets confidently, and applying company policies with sound judgment. The logistics: This is a full-time exempt role based in Tacoma, WA, with travel required. We expect this position on site or in office at least 4 days per week, with a target utilization between 65% and 85%. Salary range is $145,000–$170,000. This engineer role is deemed a safety sensitive position. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check is required. Why PV: We're 100% employee-owned, meaning when PV grows, you grow. We invest in our people and expect them to invest back. If you want to lead a technical group at a firm where the work actually matters — and where leadership means more than a title. |
