    Reports to: President FLSA Classification Grade: Exempt

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Director of Athletics is responsible to the President. The position is full-time and does offer benefits as specified in the employee handbook. The Athletic Director provides institutional leadership in collaborating with key stakeholders at the university to include, but not limited to: students, faculty, staff, alumni, community, corporate sponsors, and donors to forge an ambitious vision for excellence that is compatible with the overall mission and vision to be a Christ centered institution. Employee must possess a vibrant, personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion and be actively involved in a Southern Baptist church.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Promote a culture of Christ-centered, competitive, and academic excellence for student athletes.

    • Provide strategic leadership for the athletics department while maintaining a visible, positive, and energetic presence within the campus community.

    • Accountable for achieving Athletics Department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including student-athlete enrollment targets, net revenue goals for each athletic program and the department as a whole, and discount rate goals for each athletic program and the department as a whole; regularly evaluate performance and implement corrective action as necessary to meet institutional objectives

    • Collaborate with appropriate offices on effective enrollment management and scholarship strategies.

    • Understand and embrace the NAIA Champions of Character initiative, fulfilling necessary requirements as an overflow of HLGU as a Christian institution.

    • Responsibly manage and oversee all aspects of the athletics department budget including sound stewardship and fiscal responsibility.

    • Hire, supervise and evaluate all full and part-time employees including coaching and administrative staff.

    • Determine and administer employee work assignments such as coaching and non-instructional duties

    • Represent HLGU at American Midwest Conference and NAIA National Meetings.

    • Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)

    DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • Support the strategic plan of the university while collaborating with, but not limited to, the following departments: Registrar Office and Financial Aid Office, Faculty Athletic Representative, Academic Dean, Director of Admissions, Public Relations, and Human Resources.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
    • Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, on the yearly contract, and in the staff handbook.
    • Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
    • Ability to provide administrative guidance within area of responsibility, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
    • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, organization, multi-tasking, efficiency, and customer service.
    • Ability to work with a diverse constituency including students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, administrators and outside contacts.
    • Previous experience preferred in administration or other leadership position.
    • Must be proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

    • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
    • 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience required; success at the collegiate level preferred.
    • Working knowledge and application of NAIA eligibility standards, rules, and regulations.
