We are now looking for a Director of Asset Management to lead our Asset Management function and drive the financial performance and long-term value of our multifamily portfolio.

Job Details

What We Are Looking For:

This leadership role is responsible for running our Asset Management function and getting the most performance and value out of our multifamily portfolio. You will oversee asset performance, financial analysis, capital planning, and operational alignment so that every asset meets its business plan. This is an ownership-side role. We need someone who has already led a multifamily Asset Management function and knows how to assess a portfolio, find financial underperformance, put a strategy in place, and lead the team through execution. You will work closely with Executive Leadership, Finance, Operations, Construction, and our Data & Visualization team. You will hold property management teams accountable and bring clear, confident recommendations to executive leadership. This role reports to the CFO and is fully onsite at our Pikesville, MD headquarters.

What You Will Do:

Lead the Asset Management function by setting priorities, processes, and best practices.
Develop and execute asset management strategies that maximize long-term portfolio value.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Asset Managers and a Data Visualization & Reporting Analyst.
Analyze portfolio performance, including revenue, expenses, NOI, capital investments, and operational trends.
Track performance against underwriting assumptions, budgets, KPIs, and business plans.
Partner with Operations and Finance on action plans for underperforming assets.
Lead recurring asset performance reviews across the portfolio.
Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term capital planning.
Evaluate capital improvement projects and value-add opportunities, analyze ROI, and make sure capital allocation supports portfolio objectives.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio reporting, plus lender and investor reporting requirements.
Present financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

What We Require:

7+ years of experience in multifamily asset management, real estate finance, portfolio management, or related real estate investment roles
Proven experience leading an Asset Management function at a multifamily owner/operator, REIT, private equity, or real estate investment firm
Strong command of NOI, CAPEX, underwriting assumptions, budget variance analysis, and return optimization strategies
Track record of measurable results, such as NOI improvement, portfolio turnarounds, refinancing, or capital projects
Experience leading teams and holding property management partners accountable
Executive-level communication and presentation skills
Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
Master’s degree and experience presenting to lenders, investors, or ownership groups preferred
