    Description

    The Division of Institutional Advancement is currently seeking a qualified individual to assume the role of Director of Alumni & Constituency Relations.

    Examples of Duties

    The Director serves as an ambassador for Jackson State University and works in collaboration with the JSU National Alumni Association, Inc. (JSUNAA) as its Executive Director. The Director will work with affiliated organizations and groups seeking to support the University. The Director will lead a comprehensive and creative engagement strategy for JSU alumni, presently more than 51,000. The Director will design and implement innovative alumni programming to increase membership in the alumni association, alumni engagement, and financial support to the University. The Director of Alumni and Constituency Relations will supervise alumni staff and is responsible for planning and implementing innovative programs to keep alumni connected to the university: actively engaged in events: and consistently giving to JSU to increase the alumni giving and the alumni participation rate (APR). The Director of Alumni and Constituency Relations will work Marketing to oversee the modernization and maintenance of the Alumni Relations web page to attract alumni to the site and keep them informed about JSU highlights. The Director of Alumni and Constituency Relations will produce reports for university leadership, JSUNAA board members, regional vice presidents, and alumni chapters so the groups are updated on alumni giving and APR. and other outreach projects in the department. The Director of Alumni and Constituency Relations will manage the departments annual budget to maintain efficient day-to-day operations. The Director will establish and grow the Universitys Alumni Mentoring Program and Alumni Business Directory.

    Typical Qualifications

    • 5 or more years of direct supervisory experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
    • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in business. communications, marketing or related field.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Excel. Google Suite, Constant Contact, and other software.
    • Knowledge of the Universitys Banner database as well as CRM Databases and events platforms.
    • Experience using online social networking and other web-based initiatives.
    • Excellent typing and organizational skills.
    • Experience in working in higher education alumni engagement and among students, staff and faculty.
    • Excellent planning, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as fundraising experience.
    • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels.
    • Other duties as assigned.
