Leadership Scope

Director of Agronomy opportunities may include responsibility for:

• Establishing and executing the property's overall agronomic vision and standards
• Delivering exceptional course conditioning, playability, and presentation
• Leading Golf Course Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Managers, and large agronomy teams
• Developing and managing significant annual operating and capital budgets
• Establishing comprehensive turfgrass, fertility, plant-health, irrigation, and water-management programs
• Developing KPIs and operating standards to measure departmental performance
• Leading golf course construction, renovation, grow-in, drainage, irrigation, and capital improvement projects
• Developing long-term equipment fleet and infrastructure plans
• Recruiting, developing, mentoring, and retaining agronomy professionals
• Overseeing landscape, grounds, and common-area maintenance where applicable
• Managing environmental, pesticide, water-use, workplace-safety, and other regulatory requirements
• Evaluating new technologies and agronomic practices that improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability
• Managing relationships with architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, suppliers, and industry partners
• Communicating course conditions, projects, budgets, and long-term plans to executive leadership, boards, committees, and club members
• Collaborating across golf operations and other departments to support an exceptional member and guest experience

Candidate Profile

We are interested in senior golf course agronomy professionals with a demonstrated record of leadership and exceptional course conditioning.

Competitive candidates will generally bring:

• Significant progressive experience in golf course management and agronomy
• Previous experience as a Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Golf Course Maintenance, or comparable senior leader
• Experience managing high-quality private club, resort, or similarly demanding golf operations
• Extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, soil science, irrigation, plant health, pest and disease management, and agronomic best practices
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing operating and capital budgets
• Strong people leadership and a record of developing other agronomy professionals
• Experience with golf course construction, renovation, or significant capital improvement projects
• Strong understanding of equipment fleet management and infrastructure planning
• Experience establishing operating standards, performance measures, and departmental accountability
• Excellent executive, member, and team communication skills

Experience with warm-season turfgrass, South Florida growing conditions, irrigation and water management, environmental stewardship, and high-end private club operations is particularly valuable.

A bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Golf Course Management, or a related discipline is preferred for many opportunities. Appropriate pesticide licensing and relevant professional certifications may be required depending on the position.
