Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 750 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson School is seeking a Director of After School Programming (Grades PK - 8) to start September 1, 2026. The Director of After School Programming will report to the heads of the middle and lower divisions and will hold primary responsibility for the effective and timely planning, scheduling, facilitation, and communication of after school programming on the Carmel Campus.
In this capacity, the Director of After School Programming is responsible for the engagement, safety, and tracking of PK-8 students involved in after school programming between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. The Director of After School Programming is tasked with effective staffing and scheduling of program offerings and supporting all faculty and staff assigned to after school programs.
Importantly, the Director of After School Programming will conduct a critical review and assessment of all current after school activities and will oversee the design and execution of enhanced offerings that will elevate after school care to be a signature program that drives enthusiastic subscription and is a selling point supporting PK through grade 8 enrollment. During the school day, the Director of After School Programming will participate in campus life via facilitation of assemblies and spot classroom coverage, as needed. This role will require planning and organization work during the summer break period including the securing of staffing for fall programs.
The ideal candidate will possess related experience along with the drive and vision to elevate current programming and expand the menu of offerings to include off-site activities such as theater, water polo and gardening, and cultivate partnerships with local organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club to support this expansion of the program.

This is a full-time, 12-month/year administrative staff position based on Stevenson’s Carmel campus. The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience. In addition to competitive salary Stevenson offers a substantial benefits package including retirement plan contributions, a choice of Anthem medical plans with generous premium coverage provided by the School, vision and dental group plans and support of ongoing professional development. Stevenson offers housing and fuel stipends for eligible employees. Meals are provided throughout the day when school is in session.
