Director of Achievement Equity and
Multilingual Learner Programming

Position Summary
With the focus to support and advance the Edina Public Schools' mission, vision and
core values, the Director of Achievement Equity and Multilingual Learner
Programming provides strategic leadership and expertise to advance district efforts
that ensure equitable access, meaningful opportunities, and improved outcomes for
historically underserved students. The Director leads and supports district-wide
efforts to develop a culturally proficient school system (CPSS) and oversees the
development, implementation, and continuous improvement of multilingual learner
programming and key equity-focused initiatives.
Responsibilities include leadership of the district's Achievement and Integration
Plan, Language Instruction Educational Program (LEIP), Advancement Via Individual
Determination (AVID), and American Indian Education Programs. The Director also
advances district-wide initiatives that foster student and family engagement, equity,
inclusion, belonging, and culturally responsive practices, while building the capacity
of staff and systems to address opportunity and achievement gaps.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight of Culturally Proficient School Systems (CPSS) and
Achievement Equity.
- Partners with district and school leaders to improve student achievement and
close achievement gaps across student populations; analyzes student and
school data and collaborates with principals to develop, implement, and
monitor action plans.
- Leads and manages district initiatives and programs designed to eliminate
achievement gaps and improve outcomes for historically underserved
students.

- Creates collaborative structures with district and school leaders to build a
diverse, equitable and inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging
within the district.
- Provides leadership for the district's multilingual learner program to ensure
learners are successful both academically and socially while maintaining a
sense of identity and pride.
- Oversees the district's Achievement and Integration, Language Instruction
Educational Program (LEIP), Advancement Via Individual
Determination (AVID), and American Indian Education Programs, including
program development and implementation, federal and state compliance
and reporting, grant development and funding, and data collection and
analysis.
- Partners with district and school leaders to examine and improve practices
related to attendance, behavior and discipline, academic achievement, and
course completion to reduce disparities and disproportionate outcomes
among underserved student populations.
- Partners with the district's Assistant Superintendent and Director of Teaching
and Learning in the development and implementation of learning
opportunities that support the district and school building continuous
improvement plans.
- Works with school leaders and the Director of Student Support Services to
reduce the use of formal and informal exclusionary practices and to develop
non-exclusionary discipline practices that prioritize student connection,
accountability, skill-building, restoration, and continued access to instruction.
- Develops and monitors annual budgets, staffing allocations, and capital needs
to support the district's achievement equity, inclusion and belonging efforts.
- Prepares, analyzes, and presents a variety of data to guide district decisions on
equity, inclusion, and belonging, and fulfills reporting requests for a variety of
organizations and governmental agencies.
- Partners with the district's Human Resources team to recruit, retain, and
support a diverse workforce, with a focus on attracting and retaining faculty
and staff that reflect the lived experiences of the student body.
- Acquires and manages grant-funded projects related to equity, inclusion and
belonging.
- Provides leadership and guidance for the district's Affinity Groups.

Community Engagement, Equity and Belonging
- Provides leadership and fosters strong relationships between the school
district and community to advance culturally proficient school systems (CPSS),
and equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to strengthen and expand family and
community engagement through leadership and oversight of the CPSS
Community Advisory Committee.
- Plans, convenes, and leads ongoing community connections to build
culturally proficient school system practices.
Staff Supervision, Coaching, and Development
- Recruits, hires, supervises, develops, and evaluates the district's staff serving in
equity and inclusion roles and other staff as assigned.
- Partners with building administrators to provide indirect support of
multilingual and AVID faculty and support staff.
Grow Your Own Programs
- Oversees the district's Grow Your Own Emerging Teachers program to recruit,
develop, and retain an educator workforce that mirrors the lived experiences
of the district's students by creating pathways for individuals to become
licensed teachers.
- Assists participants to navigate program requirements, connect with
resources and professional learning, and foster a strong sense of belonging
and support throughout their transition into the teaching profession.
Professional Development to Increase Achievement and Belonging for Each and
Every Student
- Provides staff coaching and leadership to help ensure educational equity and
effective support for students in all district's schools and programs.
- Works with district administration to plan, implement, and support ongoing
professional development for faculty and staff.
- Partners with educational and professional organizations to provide
opportunities for professional learning and student support.

- Provides professional expertise and assistance to individuals, other district
staff and the community concerning areas of expertise and knowledge.
- Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, district, and departmental
meetings.
- Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, and technologies.
- Attends work regularly and punctually.

relationships with staff, colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
Minimum Work Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements
Master's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience are required.
License/Certification Requirements
A Minnesota administrative licensure is required. An English language learner
teaching license is preferred.
