Description

Kforce's client, a rapidly growing accounting/consulting firm in New York, is seeking a Director of Accounting Services to manage the accounting services vertical. This entails leading a team of 10 in delivering accounting, bookkeeping, monthly reporting, and audit readiness across a multi-client portfolio.   • Partner with other firm leaders to design, document, and own firm-wide standards and workflows for client Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other aspects of the general ledger
  • Serve as reviewer and approver of monthly financial statements prior to client distribution
  • Produce investor-ready, GAAP-basis financial statement packages with consistent presentation, comparative periods, and supporting detail
  • Own the quality program for accounting operations
  • Lead assigned client relationships end to end- scoping, pricing input, and onboarding, negotiate scope changes, resolve escalations with client leadership, and identify expansion opportunities in the existing base
  • Manage engagement budgets, realization, and utilization; correct margin erosion and under-scoped clients; Partner with firm leadership on pricing, staffing, and investment decisions
  • Lead responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools across close, reconciliation, and reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA (or active candidate) preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a consulting and advisory firm, including 5+ years leading teams (experience managing supervisors or managers strongly preferred); multi-client or outsourced accounting experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of AP, AR, prepaids, accruals, and period-end close processes
  • Demonstrated ownership of engagement budgets, staffing plans, and client escalations
  • Experience reviewing monthly financial statements and supporting reconciliations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with audit preparation and requests, PBC list management, and auditor interaction a plus
  • Strategic thinking & practice leadership
  • Deadline discipline & organizational follow-through
  • Accuracy with a focus on continuous learning
  • Process orientation & documentation discipline
  • Advanced proficiency across Excel, Keeper, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, Datarails, and Bill.com

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
