Job Summary
A growing organization is hiring a Director of Accounting to lead a team responsible for month-end close, journal entries, and general ledger accuracy across a portfolio of business units. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who wants to own a process end-to-end and build out a team.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants handling journal entry preparation, review, and posting
- Own the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper support for all entries
- Perform and oversee balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Serve as the go-to resource for complex accounting questions and technical guidance
- Partner cross-functionally with business unit leaders on financial reporting needs
- Drive process improvement, standardization, and automation opportunities
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Set and manage team performance goals and provide ongoing coaching
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred, not required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 2+ years leading or managing an accounting team
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes
- Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in a shared services, multi-entity, or large-portfolio accounting environment a plus
