Job Summary:

The Director of Academics is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the Assistant Superintendent, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Position Title: Director of Academics

Salary Schedule: State-Based Plus Local Supplement

Work Schedule: 240 days per year/8 hour per day

Grade/Level: N/A

FLSA: Exempt

Primary Function: Provides strategic leadership and direction for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the District's K-12 Teaching and Learning systems, including school improvement and professional learning. This role is pivotal in driving organizational coherence by aligning resources and data-informed decision-making to maximize student achievement and eliminate achievement gaps. Provides leadership to ensure high-quality instruction and continuous improvement district-wide.

Qualifications:

Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Level 6 certification (or higher) in School Leadership or Administration.

Minimum of five (5) years of successful school administration or district leadership. Principal experience preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum standards, school improvement frameworks, professional learning cycles, leadership coaching, and complex budget management.

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Functions:

Leads the overarching process of school improvement, defining the frameworks for continuous improvement cycles and strategic monitoring.

Provides direct support and leadership to Principals and school leadership teams in instructional leadership, school improvement, and professional learning.

Provides direct support and leadership for Evaluation and Assessment Coordinators

Serves as the primary manager of the district Professional Learning budget, strategically allocating funds to improve instructional quality, pedagogical practices, and leadership coaching.

Supports the development, monitoring, and execution of the District Strategic Plan and performance acceleration models

Supports local school administration in using data-informed, evidence-based processes to improve academic outcomes.

Provides direct support and leadership to schools identified for intensive support and/or state/federally identified schools

Provides support for academic interventions and MTSS to ensure alignment and close achievement gaps

Leads district-wide learning walks to collect classroom implementation data, ensuring that evidence-based pedagogy and data-informed processes are used with fidelity.

Supports the administration, funding, and monitoring of Paulding's Educational Preparation Provider (EPP) endorsement programs

Oversees the SWSS Application process, including contract development, amendments, and compliance monitoring

Oversees the Cognia Accreditation process, including ongoing data collection and monitoring of recommended actions.

Collaborates with school leaders and other divisions to manage and maximize professional learning and school improvement budgets and resources

Develops, distributes, and monitors the outcomes of the District Improvement Survey

Leads the design and implementation of district continuous improvement cycles to facilitate regular monitoring, course corrections, and reporting.

Produces quarterly reports for the Assistant Superintendent to monitor strategic initiatives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Develops and manages a system for evaluating the Return on Investment (ROI) for academic programs to ensure fiscal and educational efficiency.

Collaborates across divisions to align resources and improve instruction through targeted professional development

Prepare high-level reports, press releases, and Board presentations to communicate academic progress and state mandates.
