Specific Responsibilities Would Include:

Favorite Daughter is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Merchandising to lead the product strategy, range planning, and merchandising execution for this fast-growing brand. This critical role will drive seasonal product direction and assortment strategy while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with brand, business, and financial goals. The Director will oversee line planning, market positioning, product lifecycle management, and product growth strategy and will report directly to the Division Head.

 

This is an in-office role based four days per week.

 

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong merchandising acumen, and has a passion for both the art and science of product creation and go-to-market execution.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the seasonal merchandising strategy across all product categories, identifying white space, category expansion opportunities, and revenue drivers that accelerate brand growth; build and execute line architecture and range plans that serve both wholesale and DTC channels.
  • Serve as the central cross-functional partner for Design, Planning, Sales, Production, and Marketing, aligning on product strategy, assortment direction, and key milestones across the full product lifecycle.
  • Lead market, competitive, and performance analysis to inform pricing, style depth, category strategies, and future line plans; translate in-season trends and sell-through data into actionable assortment decisions.
  • Partner with Planning and Finance to build and achieve seasonal and annual financial targets, including sales, margin, buy depth, and inventory productivity, and continuously track progress against goals.
  • Partner with the Sales team to align on account-level assortment strategies, seasonal priorities, and key product stories, ensuring the line is positioned to drive wholesale growth and meets the needs of key retail partners.
  • Collaborate with Production and Planning to optimize lead times, inventory flow, and SKU productivity; proactively identify and resolve quality, technical, and delivery risks.
  • Manage style approval workflows and system accuracy (PLM or equivalent), ensuring data integrity and timely communication throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support brand storytelling by aligning product strategy with seasonal marketing moments and channel-specific priorities across wholesale and DTC.
  • Drive cross-functional accountability through calendar management, milestone tracking, and meeting facilitation.

 

Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have:
  • 8–10 years of experience in apparel merchandising or buying, with a demonstrable track record in relevant product categories.
  • Proven experience at a brand that was scaling rapidly, you know what it feels like to build process and strategy in a fast-moving environment, and you thrive in it
  • Deep expertise in wholesale and DTC apparel merchandising, including knowledge of global supply chain, manufacturing, and both full-price and off-price distribution
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the judgment and confidence to drive a vision forward while navigating cross-functional complexity and organizational ambiguity
  • Strong analytical capability: able to move between quantitative performance data and qualitative market instinct to make sharp, well-reasoned decisions; exceptional organizational and communication skills with proven ability to manage, mentor, and motivate high-performing teams
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment; highly detail-oriented without losing sight of the strategic picture; creativity and sensibility for product and customer
  • Knowledge of garment construction; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP and PLM systems preferred

Salary Range: $150,000-165,000

Base salary is a part of a total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, annual bonus and other Centric Brands sponsored benefit programs.
