Your Job

The Director - Magnetics Development will lead the strategic and technical development of the ICMM magnetics business, with accountability for driving profitable growth through differentiated products, strong customer engagement and disciplined technology development. The role combines technical leadership with commercial ownership, translating market and customer needs into product line strategy, technology roadmaps and executable new product development programs.

This leader will operate at the intersection of engineering, product management and the customer. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation together with business judgement, market awareness and the ability to build alignment across global functions. Existing knowledge of magnetics markets, technologies, customers and the competitive landscape is strongly preferred.

Our Team

ICMM develops interconnect, cable, memory and magnetics solutions for global data centre, cloud, networking, industrial and communications markets. The Magnetics Development leader will work closely with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Signal Integrity, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality and Operations, and will engage directly with customers, semiconductor/PHY ecosystem partners, suppliers and manufacturing partners.

What You Will Do

  • Own and execute the long-term growth strategy for the ICMM magnetics product group, with clear focus on profitable revenue growth, market share expansion and sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Lead new product development across the magnetics portfolio, from market opportunity and concept definition through development, customer qualification, launch and production ramp.
  • Define and maintain the magnetics product line strategy and roadmap, prioritising investments based on market attractiveness, customer demand, technology trends, competitive position, profitability and ICMM capabilities.
  • Build and own the technology roadmap for integrated connector modules (ICM), discrete magnetics and adjacent magnetic technologies, ensuring ICMM develops the capabilities required for future customer architectures.
  • Establish strong senior technical and business relationships with strategic customers. Serve as a key interface for roadmap discussions, early architecture engagement, product definition and development priorities.
  • Translate customer platform roadmaps, market trends and emerging requirements into differentiated product concepts and actionable development programmes.
  • Partner with Sales and Product Management to identify target customers, applications and design-in opportunities, and develop winning value propositions and go-to-market plans.
  • Own the business case discipline for new developments, including target market, expected revenue, pricing, cost, investment, resource requirements, risk and return.
  • Drive design-to-cost and manufacturing competitiveness from the beginning of product development, balancing technical performance, reliability, manufacturability, supply continuity and market pricing.
  • Build deep understanding of competitors, alternative technologies and market dynamics, and use this insight to guide portfolio choices, make/buy/partner decisions and technology investment.
  • Build and develop a high-performing global magnetics development organisation with strong technical depth, customer orientation, speed and accountability.
  • Ensure effective collaboration across Product Management, Engineering, SI, Operations, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Marketing and regional Sales teams.
  • Develop strategic relationships with PHY/IC vendors, technology partners, universities, suppliers and customer test organisations where these relationships accelerate innovation or improve system-level performance.
  • Create a strong pipeline of next-generation technologies and product concepts, with clear readiness criteria and transition into NPD programmes.
  • Provide transparent leadership on portfolio performance, development priorities, investment needs, technical risks and growth opportunities.

Measures of Success

  • Profitable growth and improved market position of the magnetics product group.
  • Strong, prioritised product and technology roadmaps linked to customer and market needs.
  • Increased pipeline and conversion of strategic customer design wins.
  • Successful launch of differentiated new products with competitive cost, quality and timing.
  • Expansion into attractive new applications, customers and adjacent magnetics opportunities.
  • Improved customer relationships and earlier engagement in customer platform definition.
  • A strong development organization with the technical depth, business judgement and leadership capability to sustain growth.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Significant experience in technical product development within magnetics, interconnects, communications hardware, power electronics or an adjacent electronics industry.
  • Proven leadership of complex new product development from opportunity definition through qualification and production launch.
  • Demonstrated business experience with the ability to connect technology and product decisions to revenue growth, margin, investment and market position.
  • Experience developing product, technology or market strategies and converting them into executable roadmaps and priorities.
  • Ability to lead strategic customer discussions at both technical and business levels and translate customer needs into product requirements and commercial opportunities.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, analytical and influencing skills in a global organisation.
  • Ability to make sound trade-offs among customer value, technical performance, speed, cost, quality, risk and manufacturability.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Direct experience in Ethernet magnetics, integrated connector modules (ICM), discrete magnetics, transformers, common-mode chokes or related magnetic components.
  • Existing knowledge of the magnetics market, major customers, competitors, suppliers, technology trends and industry ecosystem.
  • Experience with Ethernet architectures, PHY interfaces, PoE requirements and system-level electrical performance.
  • Established relationships with strategic OEM, ODM, semiconductor/PHY or networking customers and ecosystem partners.
  • Experience managing a product line or business with responsibility for growth, profitability, portfolio choices and investment prioritisation.
  • Experience developing global engineering or product organizations and attracting/developing strong technical talent.
  • Experience with high-volume, cost-competitive Asian electronics manufacturing and supply chains.
  • Master''s degree in an engineering, science or business discipline.
