The Director, Information Technology (IT) Clinical Systems, Procedural and Perioperative Services leads the strategy, implementation, and lifecycle management of Hackensack Meridian Health's (HMH) clinical enterprise applications. By partnering closely with clinical, business, and IT leaders, delivers reliable, integrated technology solutions that drive clinical quality, patient safety, and operational excellence. This role ensures all IT investments deliver measurable outcomes, mitigate risks, and align directly with HMH's strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Director, Information Technology (IT) Clinical Systems, Procedural and Perioperative Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Collaborate with IT leadership under the SVP's guidance to ensure the application portfolio and execution strategies align with HMH's overall goals.
- Direct the strategy, build, implementation, optimization, and support of the electronic health record (EHR) and clinical applications across the network.
- Partner across IT portfolios to ensure seamless, integrated application delivery and manage complex EHR integration points.
- Lead stakeholders through the analysis, selection, design, and implementation of core enterprise clinical applications, ensuring clear ownership at every stage.
- Continuously assess the technical portfolio to identify opportunities for system consolidation, standardization, and improved cost and risk management.
- Translate the needs of clinical and business stakeholders into technology solutions that maximize patient and operational outcomes.
- Manage secure data integration and access strategies for external partners, community organizations, and non-clinical groups.
- Mentor managers and staff on clinical IT standards and methodologies, fostering a culture of accountability and high-quality customer service.
- Manage vendor contracts and operating and capital budgets to optimize resource allocation and maximize return on investment.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for project managers and leads to resolve complex project scope or operational issues.
- Work closely with SVP and other IT leaders to plan for projects over a one- to three-year period, developing a roadmap for future success.
- Assure that State Department of Health / the Joint Commission standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and organizational policy and procedure are considered in the design of systems. Adhere to legal requirements and operational policies regarding patient and family privacy practices.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related fields; or equivalent (4 years) relevant experience may be accepted in place of a bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience (13 years of experience if no degree) leading Healthcare Applications projects/strategies, including progressive experience consulting or a leadership role in healthcare, clinical informatics, or strategic/business consulting.
- Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in an informatics role, including computer system implementation, support, and maintenance.
- Strong ability to manage success across a portfolio of initiatives with a deep understanding of network business and clinical objectives.
- Prior experience leading large teams of individuals and the ability to manage staff effectively.
- Experience working with business and clinical stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technology solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, plan and implement processes to achieve those goals, and recognize and assess the implications of confounding variables.

- Ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressure.

- Independent working ability with strong time management skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related fields.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations.
- Epic Certification.

Starting Minimum Rate:
Minimum rate of $217,464.00 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
