Job Description Summary:
The Director, Inside Safe is an operational leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of a dual-site motel-based interim housing program funded through the City of Los Angeles Inside Safe Initiative. This role serves as the primary accountability holder for contractual compliance, site operations, staff leadership, and participant outcomes. The Director ensures that services are delivered in alignment with LAHSA program standards, the Inside Safe Scope of Required Services, Housing First principles, trauma-informed care and Harm Reduction framework.
This position is 100% on site and requires the Director to split their time equally or as needed between two Interim Housing locations.
Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Description Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience
Strong working knowledge of HMIS (Clarity)
Skilled in non-violent crisis intervention
Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office programs
Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills
Ability to self-motivate, prioritize effectively, and operate with minimal supervision
Ability to be on-call for emergencies
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with strong time management
Job Description Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Experience overseeing multi-site program operations
Experience with LAHSA funded programs
Minimum two (2) years of case management experience
Experience managing government contracts and navigating funder relationships
Job Description Work Environment:
This role operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment across active motel-based interim housing sites serving individuals who may be navigating mental health challenges, substance use, and trauma simultaneously. The Director must be comfortable working on-site in residential settings, responding to emergencies outside of regular business hours, interfacing with city government partners, LAHSA and motel operators, and pivoting quickly as priorities shift. No two days look the same, and candidates who thrive here are those who lead with steadiness under pressure.
