ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior leadership opportunity within the independent Loan Review function of a well-established global financial institution, offering full ownership of the Americas Loan Review program across US branches and offices. The Head of Loan Review carries end-to-end responsibility from developing policies, methodology, and staffing through executing an annual multi-year review plan, delivering high-quality independent credit risk assessments, and reporting directly to senior management in New York and internationally. The role requires genuine independence, carrying full and unrestricted access to organizational records and personnel while maintaining strict separation from operational responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and continuously enhance credit risk review procedures and methodology including templates for credit write-ups and technical credit risk analysis frameworks that reflect US regulatory specificities
Develop and execute an annual Loan Review Plan by function, unit, and portfolio in accordance with relevant government statutes, regulations, and internal policies;ensure full coordination of reviews and processes across the organization to optimize resources and expertise
Prioritize reviews according to portfolio risk assessment, review cycle, emerging risks, urgency, and comprehensiveness
Deliver timely, high-quality independent credit risk reviews covering individual portfolio risk profiles and trends, obligor risk rating validity and integrity, and compliance with internal credit and operational policies and external regulatory requirements including FBO examination manual guidance
Identify problem credits, loan policy exceptions, documentation exceptions, and related issues in coordination with RPC and Business Lines;elevate concerns to appropriate Business Line management and Senior Management as needed
Generate formalized Loan Review reports;document and circulate the Loan Review Program and analysis in a traceable manner;ensure proper follow-up is executed when recommendations are made and agreed
Develop and maintain Credit Risk Loan Review policies and procedures;identify staffing requirements, hire and train department staff, and plan annual and multi-year review schedules
Monitor latest loan review trends and adapt applications to align with regional audit needs and evolving regulatory expectations
Ensure required Credit Review schedules are met and appropriate records, memoranda, and internal and external reports are maintained to facilitate ongoing control and follow-up
Serve as primary point of contact for regulators including the New York State Department of Financial Services and Federal Reserve Bank of New York;engage with industry contacts and peer institutions on loan review practices and market developments
Report administratively to the CRO and functionally to the US Risk Committee
